PT2 Honor Bound Is this Part 2 of the book Honor Bound or #2 in the series Honor Bound?----- This is book 2 of the Series "Blood and Honor"
Brotherhood of War #2-3 Vols There are two of these in the database. Is this Books 2 & 3 of the Brotherhood of War series, or possibly a 3-volume set of book 2 of the series? -----This is Vols 4, 5 and 6 of the BHOW series: Book IV, The Colonels, Book V, The Berets, Book VI, The Generals.
Brotherhood of War Boxed Set #2, 4 vol. (IMPORT) Same question as above -------based on the way the other two are listed, i would assume (: that this is books 4,5,6 and 7 but I am not positive about that at all. Book IV, The Colonels, Book V, The Berets, Book VI, The Generals, Book VII, The New Breed
Brotherhood of War Boxed Set #1, 3 Vol. (IMPORT) I had changed this to be books 1-3 in the series, but then I wasn't sure. Really, the same question again-------This is Vols 1, 2 and 3 of the BHOW saeries: Book I, The Lieutenants, Book II, The Captains, Book III, The Majors
Can someone look at Bertrice Small There is one Russian, 1 German asd 1 French title that I could not translate and combine. Thanks in advance.
The last time I looked at it - admittedly more than a week ago - it hadn't been updated in a while but it looks like Michael has now done that and it looks great. I'll let you know when Johnson is ready to enter into it.
It is possible to have a clean, locked new list like "vitalinew" is doing (for one namers) for the same named authors (where we are using extra spaces etc)

Hey Lisa - I separated all the Cliff/spark type things, then also Magna/graphic and then Children in Hamlet, R&J, MacBeth and King Lear (oh ther were a few part 1 and 2 in some of those also. I keep locking up though for some reason so have not gotten to Much Ado, Orthelo, Merc of Ven, Rich III 12th night or Shrew to do the same.

It was me. I want to have one more check of them - there are some Spark notes embedded in there too. My puter decided it was tired and I had to reboot before I could tell you I was finished.
David - I've found with the copy of "Readerworks" software that I use for my library inventory at home - which also pulls from Amazon, lots of names come in incorectly from them. Readerworks creates a author list and any deviation is a new author so like: Kinley mcgregor
Kinley Mcgregor
Kinley McGregor
McGregor, Kinley
mcgregor, Kinley
Mcgregor, Kinley ect
all are different authors even though her name is spelled correctly. I seriously doubt that they ever realy check or validate any of the information.
So far - most of my work has been cleaning up things I find as I am inventoring my personal library - I guess kind of what Michael said but I'm in the first go-round of mine. I'm using a piece of software called "readerworks". You enter the ISBN (manually or with barcode reader) and then the software goes out and populates the database with all the information. What I have found so far is that if a record comes in incorrectly in "readerworks" there is a good chance that it has an error in Goodreads (since both pull from Amazon). Missing authors, author name missspelled, missing description, worng series or nor series mentioned etc. When I don't feel like working on my inventory but want to putter, I come to the author needs help list and randomly pick something to work on.
And talk about things you can get yourself into - when I started Johnson, I though okay no biggy but I'm up to something like 16 different Johnsons now and find I am dealing with all of those book list as well as the original one name Johnson list. Oh well - better and more affordable than getting drunk on Sat night.
I went to the grocery store this evening and I'm like a bear to honey - if a store has books I find my way there. So here I am confronted with one of those revolving racks of books - I stop beside it and take a look at the book at my eye level - sure enough - the author is Rich Johnson. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!
RIVKA!!!1. On the Johnsons -----Yeh - I know, I'm not at all happy with the Johnsons:( But until I knew what I would end up with I needed to have some handle on who was who. The multiple spaces gets real confusing after a while I think I have toooooooo many to simply use spaces. When I get them all finally separated maybe we can put our heads together and come up with a good final fix. I've tried to put at least something in each of their bio to differentiate them as well.
2. Now about G.K. Chesterton. I have separated and recombined as best as I can do. I don't think I will ever read a "Father Brown" story after this. What I have found is that even books with the same title are no where near the same book. If you go look at him - you will see that I started putting the number of tales in each title and listed the name of the tales in each in the description. The ones without that information I was unable to determine the exact contents, but after finding that what is in one "Father Brown Book" is not in the other "Father Brown Book", I can't in good conscience combine them simple because they have the identical name.
Also I've done all I can with the foreign editions.
So take a look would you and tell me how you want me to proceed with them.
Thanks!

From previous posts these still need work: Louis

Johnson
Fred
Roy

Black

Whitman]
And Richard A.Johnson needs cleaning and combining as does Richard Johnson.
I'll be working on these as I have time myself too.
I got a lot of the Chesterton finished but it still needs work. 1. There are still a few of the Father Browns that need more research to determine what the contents are.
2. Some of the titles in German, French I couldn't translate and none of the Russian one.
3. Several of the combined titles still need looked through to make sure they weren't incorrectly combined.
In addition to the Father Browns all being combined(which I separated and recombined properly - except as mentioned above), so were all of the "Collected Works" volumes. I separated all of them and numbered the volumes.

If someone who speaks German (at lesat I think it's mostly German) could check out Teresa Medeiros. There are a good 15 or so foreign titles. Thanks in advance.

Kathrynn,I don't personally have a problem with it either way. Whatever everyone agrees to is fine.
How do we handle authors who do number there series and do use the .5 annotation?
My only concern is consistency and understandability! (is that a word - must be spell checked didn't protest :)
I started a group - not for discussion but a place to post authors series (romance and Paranormal). http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/1085...
What I post there is the order that I would be using to annotate titles I work on.
Sourse is a combination of Essence of Romance, Fiction DB, the authors website and my own knowledge of the series.
I fully agree with Kathryn about using the between .5 for anthologies not listed as a book in series sequence. As I am updating my book inventory, I am being very through in my research for each author, so I believe my series listing to be pretty accurate.
