Can anyone confirm that James Stuart Bell, James Stuart Bell Jr., and James S. Bell are the same author? I'm pretty sure, but I don't want to go charging in....
Is there are standard author format for monarchs identified by their titles? I did some cleaning up of King James I of Scotland and King James I of England - VI of Scotland, and I'm not sure if there's a better way to name them.(Also, I shifted a bunch more King James bibles onto Anonymous; I'm not sure how they're being combined, so I'll leave that to someone willing to claim the field.)
(Also also, I'm not sure what to do for the records citing King James translators as an author with a 'Translator' role. Any ideas? Aside from the fact that it should be "King James' (or King James's) translators", I mean.)
♥Eva♥ wrote: "Did you send her a message Cait? Is there enough new listings that you think she needs one?"I didn't send a message -- I'm often very awkward about that sort of thing, so I am very happy if others are willing to be the spokelibrarians! -- and I'm afraid I wasn't checking the creation dates as I went. Sorry!
Additional serial adders for y'all:Almost done, but I ran out of time to finish: http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/100...
Many valid pre-ISBN editions, but not always correctly entered: http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/589...
And I have located my copy of Guards! Guards! (which I swear I will get to one of these days!) and it is a 2001 edition and has no number on it. So we're probably okay.
Are any of the Discworld books numbered on the actual book? If they are, the books' numbers should stay. (I think they aren't, but I don't have any to hand.)

Otis wrote: "This could be set to only display on larger authors, or when combining two works with a combined number of ratings over a certain level."Actually, it sounds like this would be the most useful if it restricted combines based on the number of editions after the combination. The problem with restricting by number of ratings is that a really common librarian job is picking up the incoming Kindle editions on popular books. And it's the number of editions which would need to be separated which makes this the horror that it is! :)
Katherine and Heather -- welcome! :)Katherine and Jessica -- yes, I'm afraid that as the system stands now, if a book is split into parts for audio publication, each part is treated as a different book. If a book is commonly split it half, it will show up three times: as editions which are the whole book, as editions which are the first half of the book, and as editions which are the second half of the book.
Lisa wrote: "Eva, Some of the Persian editions of books do show up with those early dates. I'm sure I should know the reason but I don't remember why this happens."It's because that's the year according to the Iranian calendar. :) GR uses a Gregorian calendar, but there are a handful of other systems in use -- the Hebrew calendar is another one we see from time to time -- and their years don't match to the Gregorian years. (All of the dates in the GR system should be converted to Gregorian for this reason!)
As a Goodreads Author, you can edit your own books: on the book page there's an "edit" link on the top right of the main box of information. Click on that, and you'll go to a page with a field for "add a cover image for this book" in the very top right; there you can upload the cover image from your computer by clicking "browse".If you'd rather have a librarian do this for you, we can! It's easiest if you have a webpage where we can download the cover images in order to upload them to GR.

Aren't The Pilot's Wife and When They Last Met two different books? ..."
Eva, they do seem to be different books, probably combined by accident. I'll wait to delete the previous book until you have them separated out again, so that it doesn't merge into the wrong one!
Thank you for working on the GR catalog! :)"1. I tried to uncheck the checkbox by editing my review (Aristotle: Ethics) but in vain, i.e. under the last slot with this line:
Added: October 17, 2009 Condition:good edit
I clicked at 'edit', what happens is not feasible."
Hmm. It sounds like there's a problem with the new swapping system. You might want to ask for help in the Feedback group.
Are these the same author?
* ابوالقاسم فردوسی / Abolghasem Ferdowsi
* حکیم ابوالقاسم منصور بن حسن فردوسی / Ferdowsi
* حکیم ابوالقاسم فردوسی طوسی / Abu'l-Ghasem Ferdowsi
Can someone look over Ganjavi Nizami for me? I hit the wrong radio button and accidentally combined Layla and Majnun with The Haft Paykar, and I'm only mostly sure I separated them out again correctly....
