220 Looks like someone got this already.

220 Got it.
220 Okay, all set.

220 No, that combined book 2 with book 1. I've separated them back out; here's the list of book 2 editions now:

You are now already showing both old and new covers on each book with all of the reviews and ratings combined. (If you're not seeing the other covers when you look at an edition be sure to click on the "more details" section to get the full view; this is where the other covers are shown.)

The instructions from Paula's link will let you select which book cover is the first one seen.

There was a contract for it a couple of years ago, but it's not active anymore.

The awards -- and just the awards on the whole GR site, as far as I know -- are case sensitive. You need to search for "Alex".

220 These may be records being imported from places where they are listed in different ways. Certainly, no part of the title or subtitle should be translated or otherwise listed as anything other than the title or subtitle shown on the book itself.

220 I've fixed the series as well. (Fellow librarians, don't forget that combining can mess up the series listing too!)

220 Here you go:

(Sorry for taking so long -- I got distracted trying to sort out this author's other series.)
Feb 07, 2014 06:33AM

220 Sure. For the rule about not combining partial books with the whole book, you can see that this book you've linked to is not combined with The Fellowship of the Ring or with the entire The Lord of the Rings. That's because this book, The Ring Sets Out, is only part of The Fellowship of the Ring. Since they have different content, they aren't listed as being editions of the same book. Likewise, The Ring Sets Out and The Ring Goes South are different books and are not listed as editions of the same books.

On the other hand, there are six editions of The Ring Sets Out which are combined with each other. Because these all have the same content, they are the same book.

Does that clarify?

220 Yes, that's the way. You should include a note in the description field -- standard language is "Note: This is an alternate cover edition for ISBN [number]." and also a librarian note on the book record (the note link at the very top of the edit page).

220 The chronological series is here, by the way:

Sorry, just realized that I never actually linked to it.

You won't see it on the book page next to the book title, but it will be listed in the more details section.

Indeed it is! Thank you very much for reporting these.

220 It looks like that's the same cover, just a cleaner image file of it. Is that right, or am I not seeing some change to the cover?
Feb 06, 2014 11:56AM

220 Yes:

* Do not combine partial books with whole books or with different parts
* Do combine partial books with the same part

Are you looking for these editions?
220 Actually, if Master/Other is made of completely unconnected stories, perhaps we shouldn't list it as a series at all. The definition of "series" used on Goodreads implies "works which were written to go together" for exactly this reason: however the series is defined, all editions of the books in it must meet that definition in order for the series to be valid.

220 Even if it's just a small change, we'd really like to have a record for each cover! Lots of readers are very picky about shelving exactly the cover which they've read.
