Groups_nophoto-50x66 My book club just finished The Book Thief. There wasn't one of us who didn't enjoy it (which is rare). There are lots of interesting topics to discuss in this book. One of which it was the first book that I had read that was narrated by death. Another thing that interested us was that in Australia where the author is from it is marketed as an adult novel where in North America it is marketed as YA for ages 10-12. I definitely think that it is great for a youth audience but would recommend it for 12 or even 14 plus personally. While the topic is one that every child should learn about I thought the writing style would be pretty difficult for your average 10 year old to get through.

Anyways that went off topic a bit but I would definitely recommend it for a book club choice.

Groups_nophoto-50x66 Hi Christen,

I have a lot of the books that we have read for our book club on my 4-my-bookclub shelf. A few of our favorites have been Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, My Sister's Keeper, The Highest Tide, Thousand Splendid Suns, Shadow of the Wind. Well check out my shelf it has them all rated there. Also another one that we all read but not for our book club was The Girls by Lori Lansens. One more that I have to throw in is Water for Elephants. Well really I could go all day. I hope those are good starts though. They are all on my shelves so take a look!

Best,

Crystal

Groups_nophoto-50x66 I haven't read it yet but one of my co-workers at the bookstore I used to work at read it and she loved it. She sold it to everyone. It might be one of those ones that the first X number of pages are hard to get through and then you can't put it down.

Groups_nophoto-50x66 I would love to hear what everyone's top 5 books are. Or even top 5 books that you have read in the past couple of years.

Mine (that I have read in the last few years) would probably be (not necessarily in order):

Time Travelers Wife

Like Water For Chocolate

Poisonwood Bible

Water For Elephants

The Girls

And for Kids and YA Books (that I have read or re-read over the past couple years)

Mr. Pudgins (my favorite of all time)

King of the Lost and Found

The Library Lion

Flotsam

Finnie Walsh

Can't wait to hear everyone else's favorites!
