2196 I love Rutherford. He is in my top 3 historical fiction authors. Reading the Princes of Ireland really helped me in understanding the history of Ireland and many things which are still going on today there.

The Forest and London are 2 of my favorite books. I will admit that I didn't make it through Russka because I couldn't pronounce the names well enough to keep track of what was going on.

At the same time, I think it is good that not everyone likes him just as there are authors I personally don't like, such as Philippa Gregory who I think takes too many liberties at writing historical fiction.

2196 I reserved a copy from my library. I can't afford to keep up my book reading habit by buying everything. I hope the book comes in before the end of the month but if not, I shall just have to read it later.

2196 My vote is for The Last Queen: A Novel
someone I know nothing about =)

2196 I think the book is written well but at the same time it isn't. I agree about not really connecting with any of the characters.
My sister happens to be watching The Tudors series on DVD recently and it has been fun to talk with her about the different books we have read and the tv show. (I haven't seen the show so I really don't know anything about it.)
Back to the book... It is interesting enough to keep reading...

2196 I have personally OD'd on Tudors. I would like there to be a wider variety. I am not really in any other groups so I don't know how they all work. If there is a book selection that doesn't look interesting to me here, I just find something else to read until it picks up here again.
I do like the only one vote per person. I thought it was that way already.
I would be interested in being part of the nominating group. I would like to know too how far "Europe" goes for this group and if there are restrictions on how far back in history. Just some thoughts...

2196 I am on chapter 15 and this book seems to be a good "quick read" compared some of the last few books. I have read books in the past which has lead me to NOT like Anne. Then again, I am not a Henry VIII fan either. I am like Emily and have seen her as the problem not a pawn. I really am enjoying Emma Arnett and her trying to influence Anne. Anne actually becoming a Protestant is not something I have come across in my reading before. (I personally haven't searched out Anne books as I just don't like her.)
I think this was a good choice of a book for summer.

2196 My favorite European royalty author has to be Margaret George. I realize she hasn't written a lot, but that doesn't mean what she has written isn't incredible in my opinion.
I have read many books but she is the only author who actually stands out in my memory. I often find a subject/person and then read all I can about them for a time but rarely do I seek out a specific author other than in the case of Margaret George.

In relation to European Royalty...how far does "Europe" extend? Does this include the Roman Empire and the Caesars? I personally would like to see other books on here rather than the usual Henry VIII and his wives books or Marie Antoinette. You know...some mind expansion. Just my two cents.

2196 I have found an intersting blog. I have not read extensively on it yet the ones I have read have been great short reads. I recommend checking out:

I personally enjoy the photos. It always makes someone more real to know what they look like.

2196 I have been reading Sunne in Splendour. It is a good and long book. I appreciate the time people have put into nominating and voting on books. It has helped me find some books I have enjoyed reading but would probably have not found on my own.
THANKS!

2196 Speaking of genealogy...I am related to Arthur Plantagenet. When I am not reading I am doing genealogy and sometimes I am doing both =)
2196 I am new to goodreads and this group. I thought this would be a good way to help give me ideas for books to read as I love history! I picked up Catherine on Monday and plan to start today. I am glad that people aren't too far ahead. I took a Russian History class which I am hoping will help in getting the names and places down as I know Russian names can be very difficult to keep track of. (Any name that is out of the ordinary when it comes down to it.)
Thanks for taking the time to set up this group and for everyone's posts. I look forward to becoming an active member.
