Just saw The Strangers...I recommend it if you want to see a truly suspenseful movie for Halloween! I jumped too many times to count.
I liked Lars & the Real Girl. Yes, it was quirky but the underlying relationship between Lars, his family, Bianca and the community is what made the film heartwarming, in my opinion.
I though Half Nelson was a very dark movie, but Ryan Gosling was amazing in it.
I just saw "Appaloosa" and highly recommend it. Ed Harris & Viggo Mortensen were great.
Just saw "Run, Fat Boy, Run" and loved it! Very funny. :)
Gail, I loved "Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day". I adore Frances McDormand. Also just watched "Smart People" and thought it was quite good.

I love "It Happened One Night". It's my favorite film! I just saw "The Band's Visit" and enjoyed it. If you like independent films with substance and a bit of humor, I definitely recommend it. Also just saw "Traitor" and it was pretty good...I'm partial to Don Cheadle though.
