Reese. I enjoyed the film as well and it made me cry, but not as much as the book did. I'd definitely recommend the book - one of the best books I've ever come across and will remain within the top 10 of my all-time favourite books.

I must admit that I began The Time Traveler's Wife but could not finish! Then I watched the movie and thought it was quite good :-).

20786 I think it's probably not fair to compare books with films, as they are different art forms to tell stories in very different ways. With books it's the beauty of writing and our imagination, while with films there are other things to consider such as visual effects and music and etc. Personally I tend to read books before watching them in cinema, if possible, but I don't expect the films to deliver exactly the same as the books.

20786 Traci,

I happened to have written a blog last week On Reading and here is the link: http://junyingkirk.wordpress.com/2011....

To be honest with you, the traffic to my blog is limited right now, so I'm quite happy for you to use my piece on your blog, or I can answer your questions as a reader rather than a writer - I've been a reader for much longer :-)!

Let me know if you're interested.

20786 I just remembered another book which I finished in one day. It's called The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas - it's not long and has been made into a film. Moving story!

20786 thanks, Kate. Will get some for future use. I don't get it often either.

20786 That's good to know, Joy, as I suffer from Migraine too, but not as young as you when it began. It suddenly started in my late 30s and I had no idea why. I have not taken any medication for it when it stuck and just took a rest if I could. Fortunately it has never occurred while I was reading.

20786 Just noticed this discussion group and I hope my entries are not too late. Like Audry, I'm self-published author and have two books on Kindle, the first 2 of my trilogy Journey to the West.

Here are the links: The Same Moon: http://www.amazon.com/Same-Moon-Journ...;
Trials of Life: http://www.amazon.com/Trials-Life-Jou....

The genre is probably best described contemporary fiction, although they also have a bit of modern history, and a woman's journey from East to the West.

Thanks, Joy, for this opportunity.

20786 Just want to say hi to everyone. My name is Junying, and I'm fairly new to GR so still trying to find my way around. Great site for readers and writers, and I look forward to getting to know some of you soon.

20786 wow, I'm impressed that so many people found it easy to take time out and read to your heart's desire. That's great.

I echo Kate's sentiments that to be able to spend a whole day devoted to reading is a luxury for many of us who have a day job and perhaps a night job (like writing etc), and many other commitments. Reading is no hardship, but finding time is :-(.

20786 The friend Kate mentioned above was me :-)!

I'm a relative faster reader, taking into account that English is not even my first language :-). I can certainly go through Chinese books much faster!

Anyway, it was very rare that I actually finished a book in one day. so that had to say something about The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. I have written a 5-star review on Goodreads - you can safely check it out as I didn't give anything away except how I felt about it. I would love to check out other books which anyone has found hard to put down.

Happy reading, everyone!
