Sorry but that is a silly argument. It is not going to happen. he has never said anything like that and it is anti=abortion groups who proport that propaganda.
I have a friend whose sister had a difficult pregnancy. She had gone to a Catholic hospital for care. They insisted she sign a paper saying that if it came down to her or the baby, they would save the baby. This was non-negotiable. She and her husband both agreed they wanted HER saved if it came to that so they had to transfer her to another hospital. Luckily, both she and her son (now a teenager) are both fine.
I think they should be fired. Because a legitimate prescription for a legal drug is what they are supposed to fill. That is the job. And the only ones they seem to refuse are contraceptives. They don't seem to mind filling addicting painkillers or anything. Their refusal is imposing their morality on others (the patient). That is what I don't think they have a right to do. They know when they decide to pursue the career that contraceptives ARE part of the job.
And they are in fact, depriving people of their legal right to the medication.
I agree that Pharmacists should have to prescribe whatever LEGAL medications a doctor prescribes. That is their job. And it is the patient's choice to use birth control. And right. If they dont want to, they should not become pharmacists and they should have NO legal protections from imposing their morality on others.

Then he should NOT be teaching. Abortion is a legal procedure and sometimes is necessary to save a woman's life. It is part of the job and should be learned. If the doctor CHOOSES not to perform them once s/he is a doctor, then they should be obliged to refer the patient to someone else who will. It is the patient's choice. AND pushing their beliefs on the patient is NOT part of the job or their business.

This is not a solution at all, as several states have similar regulations. Bush was attempting to federalize the issue.

Is female circumcision a legal procedure?

I remember someone saying that to my friend and I back at the protest for Last Temptation of Christ and she said it founded on principles of slavery and women as chattel too. He said that maybe that was a good thing... Sick. What a "good" Christian....
The thing that bothers me most about people making marriage a religious issue (specifically Judeo-Christian) is that marriages (religious and civil) were around in all cultures and religions. So if defining marriage by only one (or type of) religious tradition, they are excluding others. Others that maybe allow gay marriages.
I also think it ironic that many who worry so much about the sanctity of marriage between man and a woman seem to accept divorce so readily. When let's face it, it says til death do us part....
Personally I think either marriage for all, or marriage for none. OR have religious marriage which ONLY conveys religious recognition not civil contracts. And only CIVIL unions convey the parental, tax, monetary etc.... contracts

Kristen - I agree totally with you. I am spiritual (not a Christian by choice after being raised as one). But I do believe in God/dess/Universal. I am always amazed that as our leaders allow torture of prisoners, and people molest innocent children and beat spouses, steal from others etc... That sex even matters in the big picture.
Just like I do not believe that "God" cares about one country over others or one leader over others. Etc.
We are given free will. It is a gift. But along with that gift we have to have resonsibility for our choices and their effects.
A gay man or woman having sex with a consentual partner is hurting no one. I man raping his girlfriend is. He is straight. To me he is the "evil" one.
