16-The Great Hunt by Robert Jordan17-The Dragon Reborn, by Robert Jordan
This has been a great series so far.
11-Left Behindby Tim LaHaye-It was pretty good. Interesting theories that's for sure.12-The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan-Great first book for the epic fantasy.
13-Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides-Not what I expected, but it gave me an interesting view on many different issues.
14-Nine Princes In Amber by Roger Zelazny - Loved it.
15-The Guns of Avalon by Roger Zelazny- Loved it.
Kathy, thanks for the info. It seems like most epics go that way. They're all good but there are definitely the favorites that are the best.
Fran. I am also in love with used books. Used bookstores are my favorite places to shop. I think my dream job would be owning a used book store. I love the smell and the atmosphere in them. Used books are like used toys but better. So many people have loved them.
I just finished Outlander and loved it. I am glad to know that the rest of the series is also really good.
The All Consuming site is so much fun. I was addicted to it when I first found it. I love all the different award book lists as well as all the movie lists etc.
Librarian for him, I also try to get in a couple of pages while I brush my teeth. I always feel OCD when I do but sometimes I can't help it. To DANINE-I can't figure out how you knit while you brush your teeth, but I do agree with you that they are both good ways of utilizing time.
My dream house is going to have a library/reading room along with a million other rooms too. I love having books and buying books and looking at books and even smelling books. MMmmmm...
My places that I read are on the couch by the window or at the table. During the summer I like to go outside with a lawn chair and read while the kids play outside.
I started my list in January but I just didn't have a chance to post until now since I have been doing some traveling and then our family just moved to Germany from the states. Last year I read somewhere around 200 books. At the rate I'm going this year I'll be happy with just my 50. This is my list so far:
1-Watchmen
2-The Undomestic Goddess
3-5 - Circle Trilogy 3 in 1
6-Wuthering Heights
I also like the 50 books a year option. I think it will take some pressure off of people just joining.
61. The Thirteenth Tale, Diane SetterfieldVery good, and different, mystery.
62. The Host, Stephanie Meyer
-Something different from this author. I enjoy the plot and the characters but I still think there is too much emotional drama.
Well I haven't updated my list for a while so I have a long list.52. The Hero and the Crown, Robin McKinley
-Liked it a lot but Blue Sword is my favorite of the two.
53. Cerulean Sins, Laurell K. Hamilton
-I do have to throw in fluff sometimes.
54. Decline and Fall, Evelyn Waugh
-I loved this book. I hadn't read any of this style and was pleasantly surprised.
55. Empire of the Sun, J.G. Ballard
-Also very good book. Different outlook for WWII
56. Chosen, P.C. Cast
-Fun YA Vampire book
57. The Golden Compass, Philip Pullman
-Also good fantasy read. A already have the second in the series to keep reading. Don't really get why so many people were freaking out about the movies.
58. The Christmas Box, Richard Paul Evans
59. Timepiece, Richard Paul Evans
60. Dragon and Phoenix, Joanne Bertin
-Another good classic fantasy.
49. Narcissus in Chains, Laurell K. Hamilton50. The Blue Sword, Robin McKinley
51. The Hero and the Crown, Robin McKinley
I really enjoyed all three of these, especially The Blue Sword.
48. The Robber Bride, Margaret AtwoodI liked the way this was written moving from one character's view point to another and I also liked the characters themselves. I was a little disappointed in the anticlimactic ending but this could also have been done on purpose.
47. In the Country of Last Things, Paul AusterI really enjoyed this book. It wasn't long but it was interesting and I finished it quickly. I have really enjoyed reading this author. This is only my second stab at it (I read the New York Trilogy) earlier this year) but so far I am impressed.
This book was an apocalyptic story about a woman's struggles through an unnamed city that has been virtually destroyed. I think the most interesting thing about it is the fact that so many questions are left unanswered, the book is much more thought provoking this way.
