I've not had much time to read adult or even books of choice because my son chose not to take any AR tests all fall; He's far behind in his reading, so we're reading each evening --I read a page/he reads a page. It's actually kind of fun and I love Andrew Clements books! Getting kids thinking and talking about issues without scaring or being condescending!

Wow...haven't been on for awhile!!! My daughter and I really enjoyed reading and discussing the book! I imagine a lot of kids and parents would find it troubling....however, my 4th grader just had Scorpion King or Land of Scorpions??? suggested to him--about cloning and drug lords in futuristic Mexico. Hmmm... that one baffles me!

No....but I'll look into reading it over break! Thanks for the suggestion!
33. Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson Should be read by all 13-16 year old girls. Of course, if it's a forced read, they would hate it.

O.K. It's fixed now.... I mentioned that I was 'bored' with the book at coffee with friends, they had all really liked the book. Thought the main character was a combo of Sandra Lee and Ina Garten from Food Network! Funny!
32. Comfort Food by Kate Jacobs Obviously, I'm falling into the school book report pattern--I'd already invested so much time reading this, I needed to finish in order to count it on my list. It was o.k. but not great. I now resent the time spent reading it. Why can't I dump a book when it's boring to me???
30. the hour I first believed Wow! Why did I pick the book with over 700 pages when I'm sooooo far beind? Who knows? This was enough information for three or four books....very odd, very strange, soo much happened to this one person, Caelym Quick!
28. lawn boy cute; read it with my son; If I was teaching 4th or 5th graders, I'd use this book and integrate all kinds of math and economics!
29. club dead this book took me seriously a year to finish! It was o.k. I just kept misplacing it!
26. No Talking I think the only way I'm going to get through 50 this year is to count the ones I read with my son.
27. Shanghai Girls Interesting....
25. the house on mango street I read this because it's been challenged at my daughter's high school. Seriously.....I've got to look into what the objections were, because I'm kind of at a loss?
I am far behind...because I'm re-reading Jane Austen's books for a Jane Austen knitting group....it's slowing me down, but oh well!!!

Wow! Thanks for the info.....I'm going to put it off until September, but then I'll finally do it! I'd no idea such a service even existed!
thanks so much!!!
22. Two for the Dough Stephanie Plum 2 O.K. Not really my type of book--I've got to get some really good books so I make my 50 this year! Get on it sister! (I saw the girl who kicked hornets on the shelf above--may have to get that!!!

Wow! Good to know it was that good! I checked out a copy from our library, but the print was so tiny! The book was the height of a cd box -- plus, it was falling apart. I knew I'd never make it through that tiny print. Perhaps my library should step up and buy a new book--or heaven forbid, I should actually purchase a copy! (I prefer to buy books that I love once I know I love them)
20. The Pilot's Wife--wish it had more of the story about the pilot and less of the wife dodging reporters and investigators.

At this point with the movie coming out, don't you feel like you know the story! Some friends were going to the movie--I knew I couldn't stand to sit through it since I think I know the whole thing. It would frustrate me. (Kind of like Titanic- the boat goes down!).

I will NEVER read anything by Ann Coulter. No way.

I'm there with you on Ann Coulter! She annoys me...I can't stand it when she's on TV and somehow I can't get to the remote (like my hands are in ground beef and I'm making meatballs) I'll be screaming at some one to change the channel--Ugh, she bugs me!
