My husband had a book set aside to read whenever he wanted to fall asleep. He knew that reading it would put him to sleep without fail. I was wondering if anyone else has a certain book that puts you to sleep or just plan bores you?
I thought about having a book club with this group but I figured with all the bazillion book clubs on Goodreads and in the world in general it would just be too much for the group. I wanted to keep it simple. I wanted people to come come to the group with a goal of 50 books for support and one weekly question. I don't mind having a book club/monthly book as long as it doesn't overshadow the main purpose of this group which is supporting each other in getting to our 50.
I know a book group can get complicated with choosing the books and posting discussions. My life has become uber busy so I just don't have time to moderate that aspect of the group. If we were to do this I need serious help and dedication with keeping track of posts and discussions etc. Does that sound ok? Please message me personally with any ideas you may have.
What series and/or author do you drop everything and read from cover to cover in one sitting when you get a new one?
Great question! Thanks Mary Todd. Looking forward to reading the responses.
Yikes. This post was in really bad taste not to mention in bad grammar. This group is for support and for sharing recommendations but most of all being positive about our goals and the goals of each other. This is completely disrespectful and will be deleted. We've never had a problem before and I don't want to start now. Please be considerate when posting. Bragging like this is...icky.

Happity Friday :)
Have you ever purchased a book(s) because you liked the cover? Please give titles so we can look up the covers too :)
I apologize for not having a question last week. I hope you have a very nice weekend.
Also, I want to say thank you to Mary Todd who has greeted many of you and has been a cheerleader for us all in this group. She has been doing this since the group was fairly new. Thanks for taking the time to cheering us on as our lists grow. :)
Name a "sidekick" character from a book who in your opinion is worthy enough to be the main hero. Do you think they deserve their own spin-off story?
Sorry for delay in posting this question. I had a family emergency. Thanks Dini for the question!
If a young person (12-15 years old) of your same sex came to you and asked what is the one book s/he should read this summer, what would you recommend?
Thanks for the question Mary Todd!
I keep a journal of all the of the books I read and when I come across a passage or quote that speaks to me or inspires me I write it down.
I was wondering if any of you have any favorite quotes, passages or phrases from a book that spoke to you, inspired you or made you laugh. Please share.
I love looking through the virtual library of books we have here on the group bookshelf. Please feel free to add what you are reading to the bookshelf.
My Dog Skip by Willie Morris. I can't even begin to explain how I bawled my eyes out. Books about animals and their relationships with people get me crying like a little girl. I love animals.
There are lots of sad books out there. But which one manage to make you shed real tears and sob like a baby?
Thanks for the question Dini!
I don't want to say that I make a habit of stealing books from the library sale shelf. But I would like to say there has been the occasion(s) where I didn't have the $1 or $2 at the time to purchase the book. The fact that the book might not be there the next day lingers and burns deep within my literary soul. I've taken books but I have paid for all five of them with steep interest as an anonymous donation labeled "penance".
Have you ever *gulp* stolen a book? Pray tell without persecution.
Have a safe and crime free weekend :)
Oh fun! Sadly only 17 for me. BUT most of the others are on my bookshelves to be read so that must count for something....kind of... :)Great topic. Thanks for posting this one Victoria!
