Book 124:Windfall Impulse\Temptation
Completed Nov 18/09
My Opinion
These were cheesy romance stories. Two novellas in one book. I thought the premise behind both books were interesting, but because they were so short, it was too much about the sex. Also, both books were like "love at first sight" and I am not a big fan of so many romance books being like that.
Grade: C
Book 123:Water for Elephants
Completed Nov 9/09
My Opinion
This was my SECOND attempt at this book. The first time I had a bunch of books from the library and tried to get into it, but decided to pass on it. I saw it in the library and figured I should try it again. While visually stunning, I really had no interest in the plot. Gruen is a great writer, you could really see everything she was describing, but even as good as that was, I still had no interest. I did like the ending though, even if it was a bit predictable.
Grade: C
Book 122:Lock and Key
Completed Nov 9/09
My Opinion
I surprisingly liked this one quite a bit. After the last book I read by Dessen, I was very hesitant to pick up another one of her books. I thought Ruby was a good main character and I liked reading about her life and the changes in it. I think it was a good book for someone 17 or older, not younger than that though.
Grade: C+
Book 121:Just Listen
Completed Nov 8/09
My Opinion
I did not like this one as much as I have liked other books by Dessen. I felt the story was too confusing and I had a hard time understanding it in the beginning. I think this book tried too hard, and had too much of a HEA ending.
Grade: D+
Book 120:The Lost Symbol
Completed Nov 6/09
My Opinion
While there are things that drive me mad about Dan Brown's books, I always enjoy them. However, I hate to say, but I was completely disappointed by this book. I found it really slow, it really only picked up near the end. I think a lot of stuff could have been cut out of this book. Langdon really got on my nerves this time, and I hate that there is always some random woman in this series. Especially since it always seems to be the "love of his life" but it is a different girl every time. There was a lot in this book that annoyed the crap out of me and made me go "yeah whatever," especially the part in the box. What a cop-out. I honestly wanted to stop reading after that point.
There were some good parts. The bad guy was pretty cool (and unexpected) and I liked some of the information about the Masons. I still would not put it anywhere near the rest of the books in the series.

Book 119:Glass Houses
Completed Nov 4/09
My Opinion
I just stumbled onto this series and I thought I would give it a shot. It is pretty interesting and caught my attention right away. I love the main characters and I think there is a ton of possibility for this story. I put the next book in the series on hold as soon as I finished this one!
Grade: C
Book 118:Someone Like You
Completed Nov 2/09
My Opinion
Dessen is a fantastic YA author. She is able to get into the minds of young people and show realistic views of the teenage life. I think this book was very well done. I liked Halley and Scarlett and the issues that they deal with. Wonderful plot and even better writing.
Grade: B
Book 117:Reign or Shine
Completed Oct 30/09
My Opinion
This book was fantastic! I love Nikki. She is witty, strong and stubborn, exactly like a 16 year old girl. The plot was so different and fun, and I thought that it was very well written. I was thrown right into the plot! The only thing that I don't like, is the fact the next one in the series doesn't come out till Spring 2010!!
Grade: B+
Book 116:The Manny
Completed Oct 29/09
My Opinion
I saw this book on the shelf and it caught my eye. After reading the back, it seemed interesting so I borrowed it from the library. It was pretty good. I liked the main character and I thought the story was pretty good. The book was funny and touching at the same time and I thought it was a pretty good chick-lit book.

Book 115:Night Runner A Novel
Completed Oct 28/09
My Opinion
I thought this book sounded interesting, and the fact it is a Canadian author was icing on the cake. However, I really didn't like this story. While there were a few interesting turns, I found the plot to be silly overall, and I thought the ending was awful. It's too bad because it sounded interesting.

Book 114:Blue Bloods
Completed Oct 27/09
My Opinion
I was refered this book and I was really looking forward to it. However, it did not hold up to my expectations at all. The plot was okay, but the characters were horrible and unrealistic. I know that vampires are a big hit right now, but when I read crap like this, I miss the feeling Twilight gave me.
Grade: D
Book 113:City of Glass
Completed Oct 27/09
My Opinion
It was good-ish. I was really hoping for more of a war in the third book and I was kind of disappointed with that. I was surprised at how many twists and turns were in this book and I thought the ending was pretty good. It was a good series and I am happy I finished it, but I don't know if I would read it again.
Grade: C+
Book 112:Luv Ya Bunches Book One
Completed Oct 20/09
My Opinion
I won this book on goodreads, and although it is intended for a younger audience, I figured I'd read it for the fun of it. I thought the book was cute, with interesting characters and "poetic justice" for the mean girls.
However, I found that the suggested age level was a little young for the subject matter. Especially the computer stuff. Although it is a different time, I don't really agree with 10-11 year olds being on chatrooms and IM, so I don't think I would let a girl of that age read this book. Also, I thought the mean girls were horrible, a lot worse than girls I met at that age, and I don't agree with getting revenge on people, which I really think is a bad example for a young girl. I think overall the book would be better if the girls in the book were in grade 7 or 8 and the age catagory follow suit.

Book 111:Flashforward
Completed Oct 20/09
My Opinion
While watching the television show "Flashforward", I found out that it was based on a book and decided to check it out of the library. Though it was an interesting read, it was WAY too science-fiction for me. Taking physics helped me understand the book better, and although he does a good job describing things in laymans terms, I still felt the book would be over anyone's head who just wanted a fun book to read. I can see where the series took their information from, but it is also way too different to even compare the two of them. It was a decent read, but I am looking forward to the series more.
One thing I did like about the series is that Sawyer is Canadian, so he put in a lot of places and things that I was familiar with. While I enjoyed the book, I don't think I will be reading another of his for awhile.
Grade: C+
Book 110:Blood Promise
Completed Oct 19/09
My Opinion
I have been waiting to read this book for months and I was not disappointed. While Rose was away from school, her ties with Lissa continue both of their stories. I love Rose, she is one of the best female characters going right now. This book did exactly what I hoped it would do, and learning more about Spirit was great! I am so excited to read the next one when it comes out! This book ended on a crazy note and it was definitely worth the read!
Grade: B+
Book 109:Cat's Eye
Completed Oct 18/09
My Opinion
I hated this book. I forced myself through it, but it was just awful. The main character was very weird, and I just could not relate with anything she dealt with. Her childhood was horrible and I just didn't like it at all.
Grade: D-
Book 108:Dead and Gone
Completed Oct 15/09
My Opinion
I am really happy to be finally caught up with this series, but at the same time, this book was so heartbreaking! Way too many "people" died and although I expected the Fairie battle to happen eventually, I was so upset about it. There are some characters who I know I am going to miss a lot.
Grade: B
Book 107:City of Ashes
Completed Oct 13/09
My Opinion
I really liked the end of this book, however I did not like this one nearly as much as the first. Although there were twists and turns, there was too much focus on the "relationship" between Clary and Jace, which I found quite a bit disturbing. I think that the next one will be better and hopefully finish off the series, so I will read it, but I wasn't impressed with this one.
Grade: C-
Book 106:The Pace
Completed Oct 8/09
My Opinion
This book was really interesting. A good combination of fantasy and science. Sophie is a great main character. She was written very well and I felt like I could relate to her in some ways. Wes kind of reminds me of a "Edward"-type character. I felt the plot moved quickly and was very enjoyable. The only thing I did not like about this book was where it ended, as it is the first of a series and I wanted more, or at least part of the story to be completed before the book ended.
