The Walking Dead is the best comic series currently out. I sound like like a broken record hyping this title..wait I'm dating myself. I sound like a broken ipod touch. Be forewarned, there are no bulging pectorals or superpowers in it. Just a bunch of characters constantly being violently ushered into eternal slumber.
If you want more traditional comic steez, def pick up the Starman Omnibus. It has a classic feel to it and the writing and art are infallible.
Enough Jolie! Those Chap Stick starved lips can only take her so far. There are so many lesser known names out there that could maintain the semi-realistic character interpretations that Nolan has established. She would only distract me, and honestly she is kind of a hack.
I don't have any solid reasonings as to why, but I think it will come out on time. Just a gut hunch. I guess I really added nothing to the conversation at all. =)
Ozymandias...his ideals are straight gangsta'. The guy playing him in the movie looks way too young though...at least from what I've seen.
Someone in Hollywood should initiate a Sam Jackson prohibition. I've never read The Spirit either and Im kind of confused why it looks like Sin City..but Im still semi-excited for it.
I was super hyped when I originally saw the trailer, but then I read the ending has been altered and they added a sub-plot about an alternate fuel source and that cocked an eyebrow. However, I do have faith that it will be a solid film. The trailer is totally effective. Seeing it before the Dark Knight began at the Imax was a sweet treat.
Bob has the winning point that comic films are best enjoyed when viewed as a seperate entity from the source material (ie Hellboy). I think Sin City might be the only comic movie that actually comes close in bringing panel to panel to the screen.
It seems DC actually cares about their properties in the translation to the big screen. The same can not be said for Marvel and the Hollywood schlock they pump out.
Hey Eric. I took a summer inpsired half day from work today and went to see it on the solo. I didnt care much for the first movie but this one is a massive improvement. Del Toro is a complete visionary and I love his movies and would place Pans Labryinth in my all time top 20. My major complaint is the total detachment from the comic and that none of the characters ring true to their ink and paper counterparts. Its almost like a Del Toro fantasy movie with Hellboy amd gang shoehorned in. Dont get me wrong, I really enjoyed it and recommend it, but maybe just look at it as its own beast. Oh and beware, they are some Hollywood douche-scene cringe moments in there. We can discuss further after you see it.
peace!
Qiana-Good call on Ex-Machina. I recently heard an interview with Brian K. Vaughn and he stated that he will be wrapping up the series within a year. That title and Walking Dead are my currents faves.
Im waiting on the newest Batman from Netflix. The Amazing Screw on Head pilot was fantastic and it blows my mind that the Sci Fi Channel didnt pick it up. Instead they show classy movies with names like "Toxificated Earwigs Who Prefer Rape" that feature truly next generation special effects.
The last Hellboy animated movie was a bit underwhelming but it had a Lobster Johnson teaser and that got me a little hyped. I did some research and it is no longer in production. Boo!
Hulk Grey is essential. I think Ive read all of the Loeb/Sale books. Spiderman-Blue, Daredevil Yellow, Superman for All Seasons. I really enjoy them because they are all origin/early years stories with that super stylized Sale art.
If anyone is on Xbox live, feel free to send me a friend request. Gamertag is xxTumexx
I stepped in my local comic shop this morning and waded through the sea of Pokemon card game playing kids, brushing past the odd Squirtle holding 35 year old, and scooped up the Marvel Zombies 2 hardcover. I read through it immediately and there is some satisfying Hulk action in there. Solid book with some great comic relief from Hawkeye and Colonel America.
Recent rumors say a possible Spiderman VS. Marvel Zombies game in the works. Sounds promising, but I would rather have a Marvel Zombies vs Capcom 2-D fighter though.
Planet Hulk is without a doubt worth picking up. Its kind of like an intergalatic take on Gladiator. World War Hulk is also solid. If you already havent,I would def seek out Hulk-Grey by Loeb/Sale.
I saw the Hulk movie opening weekend and didnt like it at all. The friends I went with also shared the sentiment, so I feel safe to say I wasnt just being a hater. I have a fairly low tolerance for bad CGI in movies and the Hulk looked like a shiny play-doh XBox render. The only part of the movie I really enjoyed was the cameo by a slice of pizza. Everyone loves pizza.
Marvel Zombies is awesome. I believe the MZ 2 trade is due out soon.
