203 Laura, I thought the same thing about A Buick 8. It was just slooow.

203 Hi all - Mr. King is a genius. I've loved his books (most of them) since I first picked one up. I'm pretty sure it was Christine. As a teen I think I reread everything he wrote at that time (80s') more than once. I remember getting It for Christmas, and I stayed in my room until it was finished--we all know how thick that one is! There were a few years where I never had time to read, so I'm catching up now. The Stand is one of my all time favorites, but it's hard to pick just one. I've not read any Dark Tower yet, but it is on the list.

203 I read Desperation about 10 years before I read The Regulators. I never realized they were related! It's worth getting them back out and dusting them off. I've not read any of the Dark Tower series yet. (embarassed smile)

203 I started laughing at the Silver Bullet/hokey movies commentary. I liked the story-I've not read it in a while. I think its one of those "it was good when I was 13" kind of movies. Now it seems a little hokey. It was on tv a while back and I watched it with my daughter who was about 8 at the time. She thought it was scary. I love Maximum Overdrive! It's totally cheesy, but it works. I still think the semi is scary.

I didn't know there was a Needful Things movie. Was it made for tv?

Creepshow - is this the one that has a storey with Ted Danson being buried up to his neck on the beach before the tide comes in?

Any one remember Cats Eye? My favorite one is James Woods trying to quit smoking and ends up joining this group 'to help' him quit. Every time he thinks he can sneak a smoke, he sees/feels someone watching him. They end up putting his wife in some kind of cage that shocks her thru the floor.

203 I've not been to this group in a while, and I was just reviewing this thread. I love a lot of his movies! The Shining, Stand By Me, Christine, Carrie. I'm sure theres more, but those are the ones that stand out as the best to me. I read The Body when I was a teen, and suprisingly it was just before that movie come out. It was pretty cool to have the story fresh in my mind. The story and the movie have very little differences.

203 In response to what he wrote worthwhile after his accident, I liked Dream Catcher. The STand is one of my all time favorite books. I've only read the uncut version, and I loved it. I guess you could say Cell is similar, but I didn't like it quite as much as The Stand.

I'm trying to think back..(it was a long time ago) to the first King book I read. I think it may have been Cujo or Christine. I loved both of them. I've not read Cujo in over twenty-five years--I don't remember much detail to the story other than the obvious dog.

I'd recommend It or Christine as first reads.
203 I don't think I'd be able to speak. I would hope I would not gape at the man with my mouth open and eyes like deer-in-headlights. I would want him to know I've been a fan of his for over 20years.

203 I'm new to the group. Just wanted to jump in.
I LOVE the Stand, Insomnia, and Christine. I've read them all more than once. Actully, I think I've read all of his books more than once!
