The Colorado Kid was okay. It got me into the Hardcase Crime Series even though it's probably my least favorite one. The covers are great!
I guess I'll say The Tommyknockers. Any book that makes me dream about it three times while I'm in the process of reading it is definitely doing something right.
Eyes of the Dragon, then Pet Semetary a short timte later. Eyes of the Dragon was a Christmas gift, Pet Semetary was a find on my mom's bookshelf I stumbled upon while searching for a book in the house I hadn't read yet.
Aside from 60's Clint Eastwood, I'd probably go with Hugh Jackman as Roland. He's weathered-looking enough to pull it off. Sam Elliot HAS to play Eldred Jonas. No preference on most of the rest of the characters although I like Ed Norton as Eddie.
Hey everyone. I'm Dan.
I the first King book I ever read was Eyes of the Dragon, followed closesly behind by Pet Semetary. Since then, I've probably read twenty of his books. The Stand and Salem's Lot are both really good but my favorite by far is The Dark Tower series. I took days off work when each of the last three came out. Since then, the Dark Tower is the measuring stick against which I judge most other books.
I liked the ending. I had to put the book down a few times along the way, specifically when members of the Ka-tet died.
The revised edition of The Gunslinger gives you a few fistfuls of clues as to how the series is going to end.
The revised edition of The Gunslinger has a lot of changes and feels much more like part of the series than it used to so I'd say it's a must buy. The changes really jump out at you if you've already read the series a time or two, which you have.
The Dark Tower series is my favorite, hands down. The Stand, Salem's Lot, and Eyes of the Dragon are all jockeying for second place.
Chrystal714's impressions of the ending are similar to mine.
In the years since I finished the series, the books feel more and more like a metaphor for addiction and/or obsession.
I bought the Gunslinger Born comics as they came out, more out of the sake of completeness. I'm looking forward to the Long Road Home (I think that's the title of the next series of comics) with great anticipation.
Also, I recommend reading the revised edtion of The Gunslinger after reading the final book. Roland's palaver with Walter is filled with foreshadowing.
