Ha - true Agrimorfee - I guess I would only want to make that choice in hind-sight after making sure I was still around on the last page.
There are some good stories in that one Hayley. I found a few of them similar to stuff his dad has written, but not blatant rip-offs. I really liked it and hope he keeps on spinning them out.
Hey Ben - did you ever see/know his kids? Specifically "Joe Hill" ? I'm amazed that they have been able to stay out of the limelight all these years.
Thanks for the new thread Angie!
Hey all - I found this really cool site where you can enter an author's name and the site will "map" out other authors that you would like based on your selection. The closer an author's name is to the name you entered means it is more of a match. You can also then click on any other name and the site will re-organize the names based on the new selection.

I'm a sucker for them all. Creepshow included. But Misery is right up there near the top of my list. For book-to-film that one stuck pretty close to the book.
And I agree with Rob up there re: Kubrick's The Shining... I think to have tried to stay truer to the book would have made the film suffer simply because of the technological handicaps back then. Maybe if it were remade today with a big budget and Lord of The Rings style effects they could pull it off.
I was just a few years behind you Steve. That's impressive - you were there pretty much from Day One. Maybe give Duma Key another chance if you have time. I recall thinking it was pretty slow getting started... but then WHOOMP he hooks you and then it was over too soon. It was one of those books where I truly felt sad as the end was near knowing I'd miss those characters.
Yep - I have my first copy - it was one of those over sized paperbacks so you still felt like you had a cool book. I scour eBay occasionally looking for copies of The Gunslinger but I don't find them, or when I have seen a copy it is ridiculously expensive - folks are hanging on to them which is good in a way that they are staying so desirable.
Less than a month! Wow I am just as excited about this one as the Gunslinger ones.Has anyone been collecting them so far? I've been lucky enough to get all three versions of both the first and second series.
Haha, right on Abigail. Maximum Overdrive was full of awesome one-liners. That scene with Steveo was hilarious (and filmed just a couple of miles from where I lived at the time). Ah now I have the lovely sounds of AC/DC in my brain.
Hello "friends" - seriously! I mean it.
I think The Gunslinger for sure... I'd love to have seen Roland and his crew in training, learning their skills. Maybe been a character that got to know Roland before his life turned so dark.
They are all great... but I guess maybe Thinner or Blaze are at the top of my list. Of course as soon as I get that typed I start thinking maybe Running Man. Ugh.
I just recently started thinking Ashton Kutcher might pull off Eddie. He's got the sarcastic humor down pat - I'm not sure if he could pull of the serious part but I think so.What about Oy? How do you think they could do Oy? There are some smart dogs like Benji but I see Oy as more raccoon-like or something.
I've got them all in hardcover except for a few early ones and of course the first Gunslinger and Riding The Bullet. The rest are in paperback. I've even got some of the collections like Prime Evil in hard cover. I've got a whole bookcase in my office filled with King books (a second one filled with Koontz and Saul and Barker). But I am a book rat. Once I read a book I can't seem to part with it. I can loan it out any time - but for whatever reason I don't take books to the used bookstore or anything - I just keep them. Someday maybe they'll open a library when I'm gone filled with the fiction of my life.
Interesting... you will spend all this time slamming me for not respecting an opinion... but what is it that you're currently doing? If you are not an uneducated chump, then my post was not directed at you. If you are, so be it.
My OPINION is that certain members of this group do nothing but post negative crap on a board that isn't designed for that. I don't care what you say about respecting an opinion - in my OPINION it is disrespectful to come on a FAN board and be so negative.
And Mole - sorry you felt the need to jump on the bandwagon. Overprotective of King? Nah, I'm not upset in any attempt to protect him. I am upset that my little haven of Stephen King stuff has been invaded by a few uneducated chumps. The opinions I shared here are the same I've shared with you before and you seemed to agree. But whatever. Hayley, if you truly believe what you said in your last post, well, I disagree. Matter of opinion. Which according to you I am supposed to be able to have one. I've enjoyed being a member here and have enjoyed watching you, Angie, Mole, and plenty of others join up so I had more people to talk to - but there are yet others who aren't as "fan"-like around - my frustration is directed at them. But take offense if you wish - seems that's your intention anyway.
Angie, thank you for at least acknowledging my frustration and trying to make things better. Maybe you are on to something about using the off topic thread.
And Hayley, come on, please don't compare this to free speech. This is about good manners, or lack thereof.
So you know Angie, the reason I get offended when chumps get on this board and post hateful negative crap about SK is because I grew up reading his books. SK has been a pretty much daily part of my life since the early 1980s. So when uneducated punks get online after reading The Gunslinger and think they are somehow qualified to then make comments on the quality of King's writing or his character development it is as if they are attacking a friend of mine. And a friend who isn't here to defend himself. Frankly I am surprised that I am the only one who seems to be offended by this nonsense. But whatever, it is what it is and you all seem happy so Enjoy. As I said before, to paraphrase Jake, there are other groups than these.
No offense Angie. When I started this group it was for fans, not every Tom Dick and Harry who thinks he has an opinion after reading two books. I guess if bashing Stephen King, saying his stories suck, complaining about his characters is fun for you then yes, this is your group. However when I started the group it was for FANS. People who LIKE STEPHEN KING. A place for people who ENJOY the man's works to chat together. Not a place for people to bash him. When certain members of this group start publishing their own stories and have every one of them be a commercial success, then I'll join THEIR fan groups and let everyone know how much they suck, whether I've read the stuff or not. But please have fun. There are other groups than these.
Well I am off to find a Stephen King FAN group. You kids have fun hating on the man. Maybe you should change the group name to avoid confusion however. Happy reading; or wait, I mean happy complaining!
Out of all the actor-character matches in the mini-series of The Stand I think Tom Cullen is the most dead-on for me. I enjoyed most of them - at least the good guys - but Bill Fagerbakke was awesome at Tom. Laws yes.
For whatever reason the way King described the way the bodies were pulled through the gap in the boards has haunted me to this day. The build up in the ring finger... sheesh. I am glad they included that story in Creepshow 2, but there is no way they could recreate it the way SK wrote it. Creepy stuff for sure.
I hear ya Mole - I feel that same way. I don't hate any of them, I just like certain ones more/less than others. Rose Madder is near the bottom of the list with me too. The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon is not my favorite either.
