Donna, I wish I could see the series, but it's difficult to find here in the US. I bet it's amusing. This happened to be the only book I found at Half-Price Books. I thought since it was his first case it would be a good place to start. Now when I read the rest I'll know all about the case when he refers to it!

Chris, that's my favorite of all Crais' novels. It blew me away the first time I read it.
I'm almost finished with Rumpole and the Penge Bungalow Murders by John Mortimer, my first experience with this author. Quick and entertaining read. I'll have to pick up more by him.

The author posted it online for anyone to view.

Chris, I loved Huston's Thompson trilogy. I think the second book is my favorite, but the first was great too. It amazes me how he can touch your emotions in a book filled with violence.
My favorite author would be Michael Connelly. If I had to pick one book, I think it would be 'Concrete Angel'.

Ashley, I'm in the middle of the same book! It is a good series.
I've started Darkness Peering by Alice Blanchard, a recommendation from JG. So far I'm really enjoying it. Exactly the small town procedural I was looking for.
I'm reading Shadow Season by Tom Piccirilli. It's about a blind ex-cop now working as a teacher in a girls' prep school. Since the narrator is blind I'm interested how he'll communicate the story.
They've both had specialized military training also, which makes it a tough call. I'll give the edge to Reacher though, as he seems to have fights in every town he comes to, versus Pike who relies mostly on hardware.
Here are some ideas:
The Carson Ryder series by Jack Kerley, starting with The Hundredth Man
The Lincoln Perry series by Michael Koryta, starting with Tonight I Said Goodbye
I also see you like the ones with a touch of humor, so I'll add the Lomax & Biggs series by Marshall Karp, starting with The Rabbit Factory
Happy reading! I hope you find a new series you like.
Oh, thanks Joey! I've read one by Russell Andrews and liked it, but it wasn't one of those. I have another of his in my TBR pile but I don't remember the name. I'll have to find it. These are a series? I guess Aphrodite is the first, so I'll try reading that one first. Thanks for the recommendation!
All of them, he's one of my favorite authors. His last two books were published only in the UK, and I'm in the US. I ordered them from Amazon UK. I hope he straightens out his US publisher soon, the shipping charges are killing me, LOL!
I finished 'A Quiet Belief of Angels' and thought it was very good, although the book jacket was clearly inaccurate so the story wasn't quite what I anticipated. I've never come across that before. Anyway, the story was pretty dark and disturbing but by the end I was thoroughly engrossed. After finishing it I felt like I was waking up from a long sleep.
Just finished Soulless by Gail Carringer (the cover continues to crack me up). Fairly entertaining. Now I'm starting A Quiet Belief in Angels A Novel by R.J. Ellory.
Luann, I agree with you about the second episode. It just fell flat for me for some reason. I loved the premiere though, so will keep at it. Yes, the guy is super easy on the eyes, just gorgeous.
