I enjoyed the series. In some of the books I liked the male character more than the female but overall I liked it. There were some of the female characters that annoyed me when they had great guys chasing them.

Believe me, I wouldn't have been running away from some of the those guys!

I definitely have more of an interest in hockey now, I was watching the Frozen Four NCAA semifinals last night.

They are good contemporary romance with a sports theme.

Mocha, I know you're not there yet, but I think in the context of the scene, the BoC was a prayer book. Not the hymnal."

It is the Book of Common Prayer. It is specifically named on page 436 of my ebook. The scene is when Beth is thinking about her wedding and states the following:

"She was pretty sure that if she had been, though, none of the hypotheticals would have resembled this in the slightest: surrounded by vampires, possibly pregnant, with a fallen angel in an Elvis costume mangling the ceremony from the Book of Common Prayer."

No I think BoC refers to the Book of Common Prayer.

To add one more thing, I don't think his conception or gestation period indicate he is more human than vampire. He is 3/4 vamp, so way more than Beth, Butch or Manny.

The human women who had half breeds most likely had near normal 9 month pregnancies or it would be noted. Doctors would induce you instead of letting you go too far past the presumed due date as well.

As for getting humans pregnant, they can smell when a "human" woman is fertile so they can avoid pregnancies if they want to. Beth being a half breed doesn't follow the nirmal rules. Also remember that Darius loved Beth's mother and probably wanted a baby with her.

Rhage said he always avoided fertile humans so I hope they don't discover children he didn't know about.

I remember a mention of people speculating Rehv was the result of her relationship with the brother who died rescuing her. I think that was on this board. That is a good theory for me except then you would have expected the brothers to recruit him. Unless the Brothers haven't been doing any real recruiting until now? That also seems like a highly possible scenario.

1898 See, I was thinking that Bella not being on the council was probably due to her young age, Rehvenge's over protectiveness and the incident with her prior fiancé. She didn't care what the Glymera thought about her and I'm sure she wasn't interested in being part of their games.

Maybe now that it's important to the race she will take a place on the council.

1898 It would seem like some of the Glymera would be cousins to Wrath but that's never mentioned. His only known relatives are Butch and Manny. Obviously there's another male out there somewhere since their father is a surgeon. I wonder if he'll ever come into the story?

I would also like for Ward to bring Michael, from the Story of Son novella, into the overall story. Who was his father and who is he related to? As his children reach maturity they are going to need other vampires for their transitions.

1898 Okay, I have a question and I'm hoping some of you can help me answer it.

It is mentioned several times that there are six founding families. In Lover Revealed and Over Enshrined they are mentioned specifically. Marissa is the head of her family that is also a founding family.

In Lover Enshrined Wrath says that 5 of the 6 heads of the founding families have been killed in the raids by the Lessors (and Lash). That only leaves Marissa alive out of the 6 that were on the council in Lover Revealed.

Now for my question. Isn't Wrath's family a founding family? So do they not count towards the number of families on the council since they are the Royal family or did I miss something? Are there really 7 founding families?

Anybody got an answer for me?

1898 Many of the names have a silent H, Z, P or X in the BDB so I pronounce Xcor as Cor.

I agree. I do believe the SV will be highly annoyed at the Glymera. She only just got Wrath to ascend to the throne recently and now they want to cause trouble. I think she'll be pissed.
Mar 19, 2014 08:58AM

1898 I'm a little concerned by the direction the Glymera is taking towards Wrath and Beth but I keep going back to the same thing in my mind. The Scribe Virgin pronounced them "a good mating." She obviously knows more than the Glymera so I'm going with her assessment.

1898 Ok, let me start by saying that I have enjoyed the BDB series. Some books have been better than others but that's understandable (Z is my favorite).

I have stayed with the series even when I didn't really like some aspects of the books but killing off a brother is a deal breaker. If that happens I am out and will not be back.
Jul 17, 2013 10:59AM

1898 Okay, the problem I have with the whole "pure blood" argument that is being used is from Dark Lover. On page 17 of my copy it states about Wrath:

"He was the last of his line, the only purebred vampire left on the planet, and though his race revered him as its king, he despised his status."

So, if he is the only pureblood left then he can't have a pure blood child. It is not possible.

That said, I'm sure I'll enjoy the book and hopefully she'll address this issue (and not by editing it out of book 1). This has been part of the BDB world for too long to just forget.
