I'm currently reading Offspringby Steven Harper and since I never got around to reading the Elfhunter A Tale Of Alterra, The World That Is series last month I will add it to my list. Finally, I will be reading the final book in the Jousters series, Aerie I am set up to get auto delivery of The Lost Symbol when it comes out next week and for my birthday (9/9/9) I think I will start The Law of Ninessigh--so many books--so little time!
:>
oh--I think the "language" and the "special" topics are really interesting! Thanks for thinking of them!

Great news and congrats! I will start stalking you Jan 1, LOL! I need to know what's going to happen next! Make sure you give us fair warning so I have a week or two to re-read Rogue Hunter before I read the sequel.
:>
oh, he used to be one of my very favorites! I haven't read anything of his recently but maybe I will see if he has anything new or revisit an old favorite!
Did you hear that they cast Sean Bean as Eddard Stark?http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0944947/full...
And Peter Dinklage is cast as Tyrion (He was great in Elf!)
oops--I think I posted on the wrong thread--here's my list.
I'm currently reading:
Joust and I'll probably continue with the series.
Dreamfever is coming out next week so I will get the second as soon as I can (#3 was a cliffhanger and I suspect this one will be too--dang--will I have to wait a year for the final volume!?)
I have a ton of indie authors on my list and I think I will start with
Waiting For Spring
then maybe Elfhunter A Tale Of Alterra, The World That Is and if I like it I'll finish the series
I keep hearing this will be on Kindle soon so I will read it the minute it comes out--I am loving this series. Offspring
I just got a note that Karen Miller's new book is out soon too but it is a cliffhanger so maybe I will wait till I can read them together.
I still think it's a cute show to watch but the product placement is so obnoxious! I think the network executives should be embarrassed by it all! I wonder if things have gotten so bad that the show is hanging by a thread and this is the only thing that keeps it on the air. Otherwise, someone needs to put their foot down and quit selling out to "the man!" I don't mind subtle and creative product placement but they are way over the top. I actually thought the Verizon commercial was cute that took a cut of the episode and made it into a commercial. That was clever and I actually stopped to watch it.
I think he means the first women would be "camp followers" or some sort of prostitute. But really I would have thought that the first women in that sort of colony would be army wives. Maybe the wives woulnd't come until it was deemed "safe" so until then the camp followers would serve "needs" until the wives came.Anyone else have an opinion?

I love the perfection of his short stories that have such a haunting simplicity. I actually like the way they are a bit disconnected--it is just a different kind of story and adds a little to the "alien" feel of the whole. We are given snapshots of what happened on Mars and we can piece together the rest or leave us thinking of it.
I've never read it before but I'm finding it a good change of pace to read a classic author. I've been reading so much urban fantasy and modern space opera that I've forgotten the homey feel and quieter pace of these older type of short stories.Sometimes I can't stand short stories, but when they are so succinct and well-written they really capture you. I like the idea of a compilation of short stories that are part of a larger story but could be taken individually.
I also love reading his idea of what might happen in the year 1999. That was only 50 years into his future when he was writing--it's funny to think that people thought we might do such things by then.
That's awesome--thanks! Asimov--I'm surprised I've never read that one--I must have it in my library somewhere but I'm glad it's online too!
check out kindleboards. There are lots of self-publishing authors there and I think most of them have been happy with their experience. I haven't ever seen Amazon raising prices, but they do have discounts and you still get the royalty on the SRP instead of the discount. I think you can pull a title if you want to if something happens you don't like.
