hi all,
dont i remember right that a couple of the stories did have a robot or two that were built without the 1st law being important? wouldn't that mean that the positronic brain isnt necesarily limited by the three laws?

wow, one of my all-time favorite series were the amber books by zelazny...unfortunately i lent my first edition books to a friend and never saw them again when he moved to a different state. now i have a sci-fi book club compilation where three books are in each volume. at least i can read them whenever i want...
lenny if you're out there, i want my books back!!!
i suppose you might be right about the sbook's popularity. although i pretty much enjoyed everything i read of niven's some were better than others. one thing i have to say about him tho, he had some really fantastic scientific concepts. many were totally mind-boggling!
that's funny about the hispanic posts you have to deal with! it's the latin temperment, don't you know...:) chani is one of my favorite sci-fi characters as well.
oh i think you're right! a book of short stories by larry niven. if i recall some of them are really tongue in cheek or humorous.i enjoyed them a lot tho it's been a long time. thanks a lot for the reminder...will have to check them out again some time!
for some reason i'm having trouble remembering the name of a book that refers to previous life on mars. i read it years ago and if i remember correctly it had to do with huge growing trees that could reach to space and had some element of time travel involved. i probably remember at least part of this wrong but would appreciate a reminder of the plot and who the author was. thanks!
chani, i just wondered if that is your real name or in tribute to the dune series? thanks for your interesting posts!
i used to love those robot stories. its been at least 20 years since i read them... will have to see about a copy of the complete robot.
by the way, ubik, did you choose your moniker from a certain phillip k. dick novel?
just a quick fyi,,,
piers anthony wrote a series based on the four horsemen. the first was 'on a pale horse'. its the only one i ever read because i read it when it first came out but sort of got into other genre reading and didnt return to the series. i do recall that i enjoyed the book at the time.
