1865 I am looking forward to the HBO series. Maybe it will start before the book comes out and help remind me what happened in the earlier books. (Of course, now I have to subscribe to HBO again. Someone remind me when the time comes!) I'm going to have to read at least the last book again to remember anything after all of this time. But I'm not really complaining. I certainly can't write any kind of story myself and am grateful to those who can. I just wish it was faster :)

1865 Just got a message from Amazon that my pre-order of A Dance With Dragons is delayed another year! Has anyone heard anything about what's going on?

1865 It might be fun to do a TV version of this at some point as well, either for sci-fi or for fantasy, or both. I just read Flashforward, the basis of the upcoming TV show, and there are many other fun examples as well, such as Legend of the Seeker/Terry Goodkind's The Sword of Truth series, True Blood/Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampires series, etc.

1865 The Princess Bride is a perfect book, I've read it several times and always laughed and enjoyed. If you don't read it now, definitely pick it up sometime soon.

1865 This looks like a good deal, if anyone is interested. They are going to offer a book a month for $1 each.

1865 Congrats and best wishes for a healthy, happy pregnancy and baby, Lara!

As for me, I'm having big stress, but the good kind. I just got back from the library and Dreamfever, the new 39 Clues book The Black Circle, Terry Goodkind's new book The Law of Nines and the long awaited Pride and Prejudice and Zombies all arrived at once! What to do, what to do?
1865 Looking forward to it!

1865 The Fallen is the first book in a great series for older teens. Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians is a hilarious book for younger teens and teens. I love the Vampire Academy books by Richelle Mead. The Good Ghouls' Guide to Getting Even is pretty cute. And I love the Jennifer Scales books by MaryJanice Davidson; Jennifer Scales and the Ancient Furnace is the first book of that really good series.
1865 That's awful. I've seen how many genre mags have gone under, but Publisher's Weekly? I hope they find a buyer, too.

1865 Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse, but I just haven't been clear and it's really a good resource. You can enter a few words into a search box and it will bring up the books that have already been identified that have those words anywhere in quite a long description, similar to when you "find" a word on a web page and it highlights the search terms. I very quickly found a book from when I was a kid by remembering only one character's name and the word telepathy. Not quite as handy as having someone terrific like Marissa say, "I found it!" but still a very good resource. I would not want to just randomly browse for results, either. I'm so glad you found the book, Joy :)

1865 If you want to try logenberry and get more immediate results, search the already answered questions. I've never actually asked one of my own (even when it was free). I'm the impatient type, I don't like to wait results! But I sure love the way people on this site chime in to help each other. It's such a nice community and resource. Thanks everyone.

1865 Thanks as well, Becky! I've used Abes Books and even get their newsletter, but never noticed that feature before :)

1865 I've had very good luck finding forgotten books on this site: http://www.loganberrybooks.com/solved.ht...
There is a search box, and I've found books that I read 30 years ago from just 2 words. Maybe it will work for you guys. It's also the site of a very nice independent book store. Good luck!

1865 Cool! There is still so much we don't know about our own planet. And if some of the things authors have imagined actually happened here in one form or another, it makes it even more wild to imagine what might be out there. What interesting times we live in, with so much change and so many discoveries.

1865 comment: The Steel Remains by Morgan is great! But I nominate The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, my favorite fantasy this century for sure, maybe ever. I'm on a mission to get everyone I know to read these books and so far the ones I've convinced have all been glad.

1865 I promised a friend I'd go with her to celebrate my birthday on Saturday, but now I want to sneak out and watch it tonight. Oy, what to do?

1865 I liked the show a lot. It's predictable in a lot of ways, as to the relationship between the 2 investigators and and new and odd adventure each week. But it's a fun formula, so as long as they do it well, I'm all for it. It should be fun to see the wild artifacts they create.

1865 They should have just said that the channel features sci-fi and fantasy and that they were trying to reflect both.

1865 That makes sense, Sandi. But if I were the network I'd certainly want some approval over ads, especially in earlier time slots. NBC doesn't accept just any ad during prime time, I'm sure. SyFy should be more discriminating. My little guys are 7 and 10 and are starting to have a lot of questions about dating and stuff, if they'd seen those ads I'd have had a lot of unwelcome questions to answer. I can't always change the channel that quickly, and at 9 p.m. I shouldn't have to worry at least about Hustler or bootycall.

1865 Woo hoo, that was fun! It's like catching up with old friends.

As for SyFy - Oy. First of all, I forced myself to watch the entire 2 minute promo that they are showing before every show. It was lovely, but made no sense. It didn't interest me in any of the shows because I had no idea what the shows were; I didn't recognize almost any of the actors and there were no real plot points that I could see. I do like the catch phrase, "imaging greater." It shows the idea that the network is about outside of the box ideas, not just futuristic shows. The name still totally sucks.

But my biggest concern was the ads. There was a really sexually suggestive add for godaddy.com and then a spot for bootycall.com - at a few minutes after 9 p.m. on what should be a family show?!? Sure, if I record something that aired during late-night tv, that's fine, but this was really inappropriate. Who do they think is watching their network, only sexually repressed college-aged kids? They really have no idea. Or maybe I'm the one who's in the wrong place.
