I think the key is the way your mind works. Some people are visual learners some auditory, some both.
Most avid readers tend to be visual learners. I spend a lot of time on the road. as such I listen to books on tape(cd now) a lot. I have found that If I listen to a book I can not easily read it. I can find the place I left off but the experience is very different for me. The processing and storage uses a different part of my brain.
My daughter has reading comprehension problems. At least on the school ar tests. She will read a book or listen on cd and not be able to pass the AR test at school but can tell you about the book in great detail.
But if she reads and listens (separately or together) she gets perfect scores.
I can see for some people there would be no difference. for others like me their is a profound difference. Not bad or good just very different.
The host is sci fi not vamp.
We have been invaded and lost. The last hold outs of humanity are in hiding.
Good book
what I hate is not the cover art but when it is covered with authors recommending the book but no synopsis. the only way to get a clue is buy the book.
I have never bought a book without a good synopsis.
Cover art can get my attention. Pulls a book off the shelf but the blurb is what I buy from.
since joining this group it is more about recommendations. I have read 30 books in the last year because of this site.
I remmember it as well. Even with a dislamer on the screen the entire time that it was fictional.
I also recall. A TV show that started with meteors falling in remote places. People near them talking weirdly specifically stating that visitors are comming.
A large meteor starts approaching and the US goverment destroyes it with a Nuk.
Suddenly their are thousands. And CNN keeps broadcasting the massive world wide distruction the ends with static.
I caught both 1/2 way thru. I would love to get a copy on dvd to watch from the beginning
I like e-books alot. Reading on my i phone is a pain.
My problem is it is very hard to browse through the books.
The free books from suvudu providing the first book in a series free has been the source of most of my e- buying.
I get to read that first book free and then will buy the series from kindle. Assuming the first caught my interest.
Also a risk free way to find new authors.
Its still not the same as haunting a book store to browse the shelves.
It will catch on though. My kids text books are all online now. In time the paper book will be rare and everyone will read from a pad like on startrek

I would have more but the wife will not let me convert the kids rooms to libraries. They can sleep in the living room. or garage.
I do have concerns about fire.
I lost an entire set of first editon pulp john carter of mars series. in a fire when in college. Lost all the books I had from before being 20 that day. very sad but only 3-400 books
I have a $200 monthly book budget. I limit myself to keep out of the poor house.
You can tell how well I enjoyed a book by condition.
the worsethe condition the less I enjoyed it. A book I like I will often read in a few days.
If it is carried around for weeks I will have read severla other books at the same time . After a while it will end up on s shelve often missing its dust jacket or coverless.
Every few months I box these up and donate to the prison
books seem to disappear from my shelves.
I have the entire wheel of time series. My twelve year old boy started it and whipped through the first book in 4-5 days.
We then discovered that the last two books and the prequel are missing.
I beleive my poltergiest has them. They will show up on the kitchen table 2 days after I replace them.
old pulp covers. I will haunt used book stores looking for the oldest most gaudy covers of books I loved. or one in better condition then one I already have.
If a pulp is not available I want 1st ed hard cover.
I have to be selective I have a huge library last count was way over 10,000 and space limits mean something hase to go if i add anything to it.
I have piles of books every where
this pile to read
this pile read
this is an old pile to read lets box it up and get to it later.
so many books so little time.
I would have to say there realy are not enough trilogies. Most are simply a very long book in three volumes.
My definition of a trilogy is three books that stand on their own can be read independantlyand enjoyed as complete stories but have a story arc across the books.
Better and more complete if read in the correct order but it is not necessary to do so.
These actually are not very common. I would like to see more.
I think a big part of the chemistry was Stark. You so wanted to punch his arrogant a$$$.
With him gone it has taken the chemistry and conflict. Nothing stands in their way.
Is kim dead? I wonder. All the data she contained was downloaded. Would that include her personality, mind memories.
I wouldnt be suprized to see her pop up as a virtual entity or even creating her a new body. It is eureka after all
hey, I have 3 teenagers. I can tell you they are bilingual. They speak english and teenlish. They are not the same language at all and the devergence only took a couple of years.
This sounds like thr same basic rules I tauhgt in graduate school as part of public speaking.
These skills have become second nature to me when i do public speaking today. about twice a year.
For lexi it makes sense that she has some knowledge. Most family members even the kids know whats up.
As far as getting into global. Personal trainer with clearance?
But for a super secret it is a little too open.
Having spent my life in a small town (30,000) I know that a mayors job is very part time. The mayor of Leavenworth and the councle all have day jobs. meet for 2-3 hrs a week amd have a full time city manager for the day to day operations
The fact that he had a connection to this child, knew this child, loved this child and still was able to do it that disturbs me.
But isnt that the essence of sacrific. The Government was willing to give up 10% of the kids. They are people we don't know or care about. Jack made an ultimate sacrifice. Even worse then giving your own life. His own grandson to save 35,000,000 kids he does not know.
Talk about pain. And Jack has no choicebut to live on forever. I think I would fly my ship into the sun and see if I can survive that.
I still get hard cover books and classics in the oldest pulp format.
I also get books not available in kindle format.
My library still grows just slower. The books i realy like i get a copy of. the fluff stays in electonic media.
