1865 I only watched the English version and enjoyed it very much. So much so I've seen most episodes twice. And am waiting for it to be repeated yet again.
1865 I'm so jealous of all those who can read while travelling. I am so travel sick I spend most of my travelling time just trying to cope. Reading is out of the question and most of the time even music through earphones is too much for my brain to handle so audio books are also out.

And the toilet is not the kind where you sit to do your business
I'm such a devoted 'smallest room' reader I've actually read while using one of these toilets.

1865 I'm nothing if not odd :0)

Now that's an odd path, eh.

1865 At one point in my life I hardly watched TV for 2 1/2 years (poor programing and communal living with 1 TV between 2-3 dozen people)
Unfortunately I didn't read much either.
I did turn into a total party animal, though. And when I got bored with that I began to embroider!
1865 I'm in the middle of the Yiddish Policeman's Union and as alternate reality it reminds me of The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde or Aberystwyth Mon Amour by Matthew Pryce.
The differences are subtle and mostly social not technological.

My question about YPU would be whether it is truly accessible to readers who understand little or nothing about Jewish life.

1865 Hi

I'm a '69er - so geezerish.

I taught myself to read aged 4 and a half. My mother claims this was as a defence against the boredom of being an only child in a family with a penchant for the siesta.

I was weaned on Star Trek and Dr Who and as a preteen devoured Nicholas Fisk, John Christopher and John Wyndham and believed Madeiline L'Engle knew the secret of Life.

Then school began to dictate my reading choices ....

Much later I discovered the internet and virtual bookclubs and it occurred to me that I should try and combine my love of books and scifi.
