1865 I felt for example that there were some unnecessary, in my opinion of course, narratives in the uncut version(I don't know what happens in the original one) which he could have avoided. Moreover, due the fact that this book was listed under the thriller/horror genre, I expected more of that..I have read so many post apocalyptic books over the last ten years, that this one didn't have so much impact on me. Maybe if I had read this 15 years ago, I would have probably liked it more.
It has a King feel though and I loved the dark man's comeback(it was a comeback for me because I read the dark tower series first), hence the three stars!

1865 I forgot to mention that I read the uncut version.

1865 Hello, I just finished reading it and I have to say that after those dithyrambic remarks on how wonderful this is, I was a little bit disappointed. The plot was good and anyone who likes King's novels will like it but I wouldn't take it any further than that!! I will say no more so as to refrain from spoilers but all in all I was expecting more from this one.

I think that you should continue for a bit longer..maybe you will find it worthwhile in the end!

1865 I read this book two years ago and I really liked it!
This is part of my review:This book is witty, funny and it successfully satirizes the life as we know it!It doesn't contain hidden meanings as some(including myself) may come to think at first, there is nothing hidden, it's all there ready to be read and understood.
To all of you, enjoy reading it! :)

1865 I've expected that this book would be at least interesting (according to my tastes) but I unfortunately found out that it wasn't my cup of tea..It was just ok I guess..

1865 I read this book back in November and this was my review:
It took me quite a while to read this book because I wanted to delve into it, but it was absolutely worth it...
It is about the eternal battle between good and evil and the fact that one cannot exist without the other. There are also claims, which are very logical taking into consideration that it was written in the 1920's, that the book depicts the reality and occurrences in Russia at the time, under the Stalinist regime and that in fact the devil was Stalin himself.
I think that it is a book definitely worth reading, not only by people who enjoy Russian literature but especially by people who like discovering meanings and different layers in a book and this one, believe me, has a lot of both.
1865 I finished reading this book in November so I'll give you my review when the appropriate thread is on :)

1865 Ala you had an epiphany choosing this book!!
So here's my review: This was a really fascinating book. During the first few chapters it had A LOT OF information about the 80's culture, which seemed surplus at times, but if you are really into this decade, you're getting used to it and come to like it too. After chapter fifteen, the plot thickens, interest skyrockets and from there on it is fun, fun, fun!!
1865 hmmmmmm...the plot thickens after chapter 15 and I REALLY like this!!!!
1865 I like the book so far....
1865 OK, I've started 4 books at the same time but I'm optimistic that I'll finish on time so.....ready, player one? Goooooo
1865 I'm also one of the people here who have already read this book and think it was very good, so, I'm looking forward to your opinions..:)
