185 I figured it out!

The book is "Seeking Peace: Chronicles of the Worst Buddhist in the World" by Mary Pipher.

185 Hi All,

I'm looking for a book that I have not read and cannot remember the title of, but ran across briefly in the last couple weeks and was hoping to find for a friend's birthday. I'm not even sure of the date of the book, so there isn't much to go on.

I think the book was a non-fiction memoir type book about a woman's attempt to implement Buddhism in her daily life and the failures that she encounters. I think that "imperfection" might have been in the title. I think that the author's first name might have been Anne and I recognized the author so I'm assuming that she has written other books. The book reminded me of some of the work by Natalie Goldberg, but that might have just been the Buddhist/memoir writing connection.

Any help would be appreciated!

185 Also sounds similar to Under the Tuscan Sun by Frances Mayes.

185 I can't find a cover for the Landis book online, but after reading a review on Amazon I think that might be it. I'll check it out from the library to make sure. Thanks Stephanie!

185 It was a paperback, but I think it was something about a tomboy who had to take ballet. I would have read this at least 8-10 years ago, so it can't be the Lowry.

185 nope, but that's another great one!

185 I don't remember a whole lot about the book but the cover. There is a girl in a ballet uniform, but I think she's wearing tights with holes and tennis shoes. She also may be blowing a bubble with gum. I thought it was the "bad news ballet" series, but I couldn't find a cover that matched. Any ideas?

185 That's it! I knew it was "winter" something... Thanks, Tara!

185 I tried those searches too, but I can't remember!

185 Yes, I remember those details... I hope they help someone remember the title!

185 Yes! Now that's a name that's embarrassing to forget!

2 out of 3... Anyone know the title of my third query?

185 The Talking Egg is it! Thanks, Sarah.

While The Keeping Quilt looks interesting, I don't think that is what I was trying for. The one I'm thinking of has a different illustrator. But I do remember something else about it. One of the things sewed onto the quilt was shooting stars. Ring any bells?

185 This group has had so much success that I thought I would try a few I've been trying to remember...

1) African-American children's book. Fantasy/mythic. Something about magic eggs (I remember something coming out the eggs when they are dropped?), a wagon, an old house in the woods? I think the pictures were done in water color.

2) Children's book about the life stages of a quilt. Eventually it's left in the attic and mice live in it, but then I think it's repaired?

3) A young adult romance novel, possible Christian fiction, about two sisters. One of the sisters plays basketball and the other sister is into her appearance. Eventually both find romance with unexpected partners. The basketball player falls for the guy that she runs with. "Winter" may be in the title since I remember a Christmas party of some kind.

Sorry so vague. Would appreciate any help at all.
