There are too many people in this world that turn their nose up at Stephen King because he's "only" horror. I've been in groups like that, that I untimately left because of the snobbery (is that a word?).
When I was a kid, we didn't have Pike or Stine. I know I'm aging myself. So I read Lois Duncan and then moved on to Stephen King and John Saul. Thankfully, there is much more of an assortment in this genre today.
They were after my time. I was very envious of my son. I would've devoured them if I were a kid......I did read through many with him, though! Good stuff!
Dan, I think you will be happy with this plan. Before I did this, my older son rarely finished a book he had to read for school, but once we set up this plan that was never an issue. Even if he hated it, he was fully prepared to argue why he hated it. and in most cases, we loved it. And with this plan, I have read several classics I missed when I was in school such as Catcher in the Rye, Pigman, and Night.
Dan, enjoy reading to and with your kids! You won't be sorry! :)

Lol. I did, didn't I? Oops! Sorry, guys. The book was better than the......movie! :)

Well, I happened to love Matilda's back and forth to the library reading for hours in the chair, and her reading throught the children's section. That I don't remember from the movie. The movie focused more on her special powers. I liked that the books emphasis was on how smart she was, the number of books she's read through, the math she could do in her head.

I read Matilda by Roald Dahl. I thought the book, as the general rule goes, was better than the book. I love the backdrop with her love of books. A 4 year old reading Charles Dickens!? I thought the book was totally charming

I think this is it for me. I don't think I can squeeze another book in before midnight, as much as I would like to. Congrats to everyone who participated, and especially those who completed this!

I read New Moon by Stephenie Meyer. (Becky had given it 4 stars)

20.2I read The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster for this task. The reason why I would like my son to read it (or any young person for that matter) is because of the very entertaining way that it encourages you to not waste time on unimportant things, to not take anything for granted, and to not lose sight of your goals. I enjoyed this book as a kid and loved it all the more this time around. I think as a child you don't necessarily notice the lessons, the adventure just takes you away.

I'm confused. I thought we could only do each item on the challenge once? Because I asked earlier about this and was told no.
25.2. I read Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Anne Brasheres and Never After by Rebecca LickissThis book: 25/592 pages

That's next on my list. I've been hearing such great things about it! I can't wait to start it! :)

I read Twilight by Stephenie Meyer (Romance), Cirque Du Freak: A Living Nightmare by Darren Shan (Sci/Fi-Horror), Nancy Drew: Mystery At the Lilac Inn by Carolyn Keene (Mystery).
I loved the first 2 books, I just couldn't put them down. But Nancy Drew, I figured, would be a revisit to my past. I used to love those books. Not so much now. I found it actually pretty humorous in sections. You could easily tell it was dated. Oh, well.

Is The Book of Lost Things a fairy tail retelling?
Along with my other reads, I'm going to reread Twilight. I read it quite awhile ago and I really feel that I went too fast. I don't remember much, so in order to continue the series I feel that I should give this a reread. It should be fun.

I just read The Giver. I loved it! Really well done!
I love this series! What fun! And it brought back my love of greek mysths as a kid. It's fun, if you know the myths, to catch them and see how they relate to the story. A lot of fun! :)
