I personally think Bitterblue is going to turn out Graced. She is still young enough to where it could turn up later. Plus, Cashore is writing her 3rd book about her. Anyone else think so too?"
I definitely thought that she was going to turn out Graced in Graceling, because she seemed a little too mature and perceptive for someone so young. I wouldn't be surprised if it shows in this 3rd book.

Ah ok. I misinterpreted your post then.

******SPOILERS******
I agree that Leck was not developed as the other characters and for awhile we were relying on the word and suspicion of others. However, I thought he proved his evil when he killed his wife in front of Po and Katsa, and then turned the situation around to make it seem like she was killed in a hunting accident. Only Po knew the truth because he was able to get in his head. I also thought he proved his evil when Katsa arrived at Po's castle only to find out that Leck had already turned the situation to his favor. After he was dead everyone was highly confused about what happened. His Grace was very unique in that he did things or had other people do them for him, but there was never any real proof until Po came along with his awesome mind-reading abilities. My only real complaint was that Leck's death seemed so abrupt. I thought the scene could have been developed a bit more.
I just started this last night. I read up to chapter 4. I think it has a strong beginning. I wanted to keep reading but *sigh* had to get up early this morning for work.

Can you send Maria Snyder to CT when you're done with her??? I'm reading Poison Study now and I'm loving it.
I have serious book love with this series. I finished it about a day ago and I'm still thinking about it. I ended up dreaming about the districts once I finished...really weird. Anyway, since I live in CT I'm thinking about finding out Mrs. Collins' address and taking a little drive. Maybe befriend her or if worse comes to worse peep through her windows. lol. I need to know what happens next. :/
So I ended up going to Wal-Mart. I got it there for $12, which is not bad. I'm so excited :-)
DragonEyes...when do you leave for Japan? Sounds like an exciting trip.
The movie did drag a bit in some areas, but I did like that they filled out the story more. I did the audio for the story and I thought that was fantastic. I think if I would have read it for myself I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much.
I have that coupon...problem was I left it at home yesterday. I think I may go back tomorrow and see if I could pick it up. I didn't think the wait time would be that long to be honest but I guess if everyone is clamoring for it then I would be last on the list. Thanks for the heads up. :-)
I finished The Hunger Games this morning and I have serious book love with it. Like most here I couldn't put it down and when I did I couldn't stop thinking about it. Katniss is just such a kick ass female character. She's strong, deadly, cunning, but still very vulnerable. I love her. I had to ILL Catching Fire because I refuse to pay almost $20 bucks for it at my local Borders store. :/ I'm itching to get my hands on it.
I finally saw the movie this weekend. I thought they did a very good job with it. I wish I could have seen it in 3D though.

Eastern is correct :-)
I'm going to have to ILL this one before the discussion because my library doesn't have it. :(
I did the audio with Gaiman as the narrator. If I was kid listening I would be creeped the heck out! Even as an adult I was creeped out. The rats singing and button eyes *shudder* Overall, though I thought it was pretty well done.
I want to see the movie now.
Misty wrote: "I agree Gemma and things in general got better in the second book, but she is just clueless in the third, which is a good couple hundred pages longer than it needs to be, in my opinion.
In fact, I ..."
I completely agree Misty. I think some serious editing was needed especially for the third book. I felt as if Bray tried to address too many issues by writing this series.
I did enjoy the series but at times it was just too overdramatic for me. By the middle of the third book I was reading just to find out what the hoopla was about the ending. On the plus side I think the covers are gorgeous. Bray had me sold on the covers alone. lol.
In A Northern Light I loved the concept of having a word of the day. How did you come up with the concept? Is it something you practice in real life? Was it difficult incorporating the words into the chapters?
