I just started The Book of Lost Things. I'm a chapter into it, and it's entirely too early to tell what I'll think of this, but I do enjoy Connolly's style.
Yesterday, I re-read two of my favorite childhood Christmas books: The Best Christmas Pageant Ever and The House Without a Christmas Tree. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for quick, funny, heartwarming reads.
Right now, I'm reading Louisa May Alcott's Eight Cousins which is a nice, heartwarming read, which is perfect for this time of year!
Oh, I have so many weird reading habits. First of all, I have tons and tons of bookmarks, and each time I begin a new book, I have to go through a selection process. I can only use a particular bookmark if it "fits" the book I'm reading.
I'm also weird about how a book becomes worn in. See, the thing is...I love the way a brand new book feels, but I also like the way a worn-in book feels. I just hate the in-between process. It drives me nuts.
It only takes me a couple of hours or so to start something new. If it's something that completely engrossed me, I call up my best friend to chit chat and mull over it for a little while. I think my main problem is that I'm addicted to series, so usually, I end up completely attached to the characters I'm reading about.
I loved Jacob. As much as I enjoyed the books, I always shied away from Edward. I mean, I fell in love with him in the first book, but after that, Bella made it loud and clear that Edward was hers. I think the first person point of view is what made me not much of an Edward fan. It's like one of your friends telling you a story about their boyfriend...you wouldn't fall in love with him, would you? I dunno--maybe I'm just being completely weird. I can't wait to see New Moon, just for Jacob. I wish he wasn't so young. I wouldn't feel like such a creeper when I drool over him. (I'm 19 and have a younger brother Taylor's age...it freaks me out when I think that I'm attracted to someone my brother's age...EW!)

I am so glad I'm not the only one who found themselves angry over Royal. I had to put the book down so many times, just because I thought she was acting a fool with Royal. (Not that I didn't love the book, nonetheless!)
Finally finished the Twilight series yesterday. I'm satisfied with the way that the series ended. Now, I'm going to start The BFG (while I'm also reading The Secret Life of Bees).
About a third of the way done with Breaking Dawn. I'm going to try to finish it today or tomorrow. I'll be sad when this series is done :( (Although not quite as sad as when I finished Harry Potter...)
Finished New Moon last night and rolled right into Eclipse. I don't know what it is about this series that drags me in so much--it really isn't the best of writing. I just love the escapism, I guess.
Working my way through New Moon--I should finish it tonight. I don't care how much some people might argue with me--I like this series. A lot.
I love Roald Dahl! I actually just checked out The BFG from our library because I haven't read it (for shame, I know). I always thought he was hilarious! Matilda was what started me in on him...what booklover can't relate to the little girl who read all of the books in her library's children's section?
Thanks for the encouragement everyone! It was my best friend who finally enticed me to pick up the series for the first time, and I love them so far! I don't think they're the greatest works of literature, but I can appreciate a good story, like anyone else. I'm pretty addicted! My best friend has also been telling me to just keep reading...which, I do gladly because I enjoy this series. :)
Started New Moon this morning...I'm excited for it. I was so late coming to this whole Twilight thing, although it's nice that I don't have to wait for any books to come out. Although, I would really like Stephenie Meyer to hurry up and come out with Midnight Sun!
Started reading Twilight last night...it's a first time read for me, and I figured I'd see what all the hype was about. I have to admit, I'm hooked!
I spent part of last summer reading through the series, and I read them in chronological order. It never really mattered to me what order to read them in; I just happened to read them in chronological order. I remember thinking, though, that I was glad that I had waited to read the entire series until I was 18. It was interesting because as I read, I found that I could appreciate what would make this series so appealing to a child, but I also found that I was mature enough to catch all of the religious allegory and symbolism.
I might try to get my little brother to read them...hmm. LWW was my favorite book growing up!

Interesting thoughts! I'll have to spend some time contemplating why I read...hmm. Anyway, I'm glad I wasn't the only one who was frustrated with the Mattie-Royal thing. I don't think it was a flaw or anything. Obviously, Mattie felt that she had to do what was "right" instead of what she wanted. But at times, I couldn't help but think "Mattie! What are you doing?! Quit acting a fool with Royal and get yourself off to college!"

That's surprising! I loved Bridge to Terabithia and Jacob Have I Loved growing up. I wonder why more people haven't reviewed that book...
Uh oh...now I want to re-read the series! I'm telling myself that I have to read the rest of the books on my bookshelf before I can do that--yikes!
