17216 I couldn't say it better. I think Kelley Anne explained it quite well.

For me, having read the Highlander series added a deeper understanding of the Fever books.

17216 I love Anna Fields, too. Too bad she passed away; she was a great narrator.

I also like the pair that narrates Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooters books. There names escape me right now, and I'm too lazy to look, but I will post it later when I find out.

17216 Just curious, when will the winning book be announced?

17216 I love audiobooks, and I always have one playing while driving.

I usually enjoy books that are narrated in first person like LKH's Anita Blake series, Karen Marie Moning's Fever series and Karen Chance's Cassie Palmer series.

Pat:

I know what you mean. I remember driving with my windows open with an Anita Blake book playing, and I was at a red light with a pretty graphic scene being narrated. Even though I'm sure the driver next to me can't really hear what I'm listening to, I actually raised my windows up, hoping that nobody heard what I'm listening...LOL

I love Christine Holloway's voice, and she will always be Anita's voice in my head.

17216 Lauren,

You can find the novella "Into the Dreaming" in the anthology Tapestry.

17216 Well, this is what KMM said in her website:

How many books are in your FEVER series?
A. Currently, I expect the FEVER series to be five books: Darkfever, Bloodfever, Faefever, Dreamfever and Shadowfever. There may also be a few novellas about some of the more sexy and dangerous characters in the FEVER world. If, as the series progresses, it demands more entries, I'll write them.

As for the rather dark ending of the 3rd Book..i have a feeling Book 4 is going to be as bad..

And can you share a little sneak peek at what's coming after Bloodfever?

The darkest hour is before the dawn. It isn't dawn yet.

17216 Lauren,

I read the Highlander series out of order too, and except for the latter books, I don't think it make much of a difference.

However, the Fever series needs to be read in order. Just be prepared for the cliffhanger endings...If you are willing to wait, maybe you should just wait till all 5 books are completely written..LOL

Shanon:

I know exactly how you felt after reading Book 3. I listened to it, and when it was done, I kept checking if I missed an extra disc...muttering to myself, "there is no way she ended the book like that" over and over.

17216 I love KMM's Highlander series, and I would second Kelley Anne's recommendation on the audiobook versions. I listened to all of them, and read only one, and enjoyed them all immensely. They are all definitely PNR with time travel thrown in.

The Fever series on the other hand is more urban fantasy, with each book more or less ending in a cliffhanger. Three books are already out, with the fourth one, coming out in August.

17216 Lily,

I dont' know how you will take this, but I've read up to Book 3 of this series, and I still don't know what JB is. I have some theories based on clues, but it has not been revealed yet...So I don't know how you are with cliffhanger endings, but if you are not fond of it, this series will sort of drive you nuts..LOL.

Is it August yet?...LOL

17216 One of my fave YA series is Lloyd Alexander's Chronicles of Prydain. Its quite old, originally released in the sixties, and there are 5 books, narrating the story of Taran, the assistant pig-keeper. One of the books was actually made into a Disney movie called the Black Cauldron.

It's a great coming-of-age series, and I would recommend to any young and young-at-heart readers.

17216 Elena,

If you don't like cliffhangers, you won't like this series. I swear the latest cliffhanger (third book) just left me speechless, and I have to check my audiobook case to see if there was a missing disc.

However, I'm too invested in the storyline, that I know I will be picking up the next book just to see what happens.

17216 1.What do u think of the Front cover? (most people when buying a book will look at cover first then read the back)(when u saw the cover what was ur first thoughts on it)

Hmmm...I'm not really a cover person, but I don't really see much significance of this cover to the rest of the story...Maybe its just me..LOL

2. What do u think of the quote at the beginning of each chapter?

I think it was okay, although I felt they were slightly irrelevant. Also, I didn't feel them very "quotable" if you get my drift...

3. Was the Book long enough for ya?

I think it is of decent length.

4. Would you read book 2 Ink Exchange?

Unfortunately, this first book did not impress me much, so I'm in no rush to get the 2nd book. Might pick it up when I have a slow month.

5. Over all what did u think of the book?

It was an okay read. Unfortunately, the characters were a little flat for me, and I cannot seem to relate to their dilemmas, so in the end, I was not totally invested on what their fates will be.

"

I basically don't have that many groups I've signed up for, so I'm sort of active in almost all of them.

My reading rate will probably slow down by next month, because after being in a long-distance relationship, hubby and I will be back under the same roof. So less time reading, but I'm happy...*grins*

I love audiobooks. I usually finished between 1-3 audiobooks a month while listening during my commute back and forth to work.

17216 Good question, Shanon.

Before I joined GR and came up with the crazy idea of running monthly challenges, I just read whatever catches my eye, my interest or what was available at the library.

Now, at the end of each month, I would chose between 12-18 books, either from my own personal stash or from the library that I will read for next month. The choices are heavily influenced by my RRR monthly challenges, PNR challenges, Other RRR challenges, three groups BOM reads (Jess', Tricia's and this group). I try to crosslist most of the choices, so I will have a manageable number of books to read in a month's time.

Crazy, isn't it? I usually don't finish all of them, but I usually get far ahead in my attempts. So, I'm reading between 14-18 books at a month.

I have promised myself I won't add another book in my GR TBR list, but let's see how that goes.

17216 Started reading it last night...so far, its an okay read to me. Let see if my opinion changes as I get deeper into the book.
17216 I have to admit when I picked this book up (it was an audiobook actually), I did not really pay attention tp the cover, so it did not exert any influence in my choice. I saw Karen Marie Moning's name on it, and considering how much I enjoyed her Highlander series, I decided to borrow the book.

I rarely choose a book based on cover. Usually its a familiar author's name that prompts me to pick up a book instead.
May 07, 2009 11:55AM

17216 I don't think her writing has been affected. I mean her highlander series was purely PNR...while the Fever is really more urban fantasy. So I can't really compare if there has been a change in her writing style.

I would probably recommend reading the third book as close as possible to the release of the 4th book....LOL
May 07, 2009 09:31AM

17216 LOL...It's getting to the point. It's supposed to be a 5-book series, and she had mentioned that she had the entire storyline plotted out, so we are getting there...

It's just a shame that she is sick so she couldn't write fast enough...coz the ending of the last book is a total..total..total..cliffhanger.
May 07, 2009 09:21AM

17216 That's the million-dollar question...LOL..Who and what exactly JB is? I've read all three books that are out so far, and that question has not been answered yet...so I guess August can't get here soon enough.
