It's harder for me to get rid of the books as we have a joint garage sale every year.
Now, this happens to be one of her favorite authors and I found the book used so bought it for her as a gift. I crack up at the title though: Me and My Big Mouth - Your Answer is Right Under Your Nose by Joyce Meyer. I gave that to her last christmas.
I don't let this one slip, but a catch phrase I always found amusing, more so in the movies than in the books was in Harry Potter when someone (usually a Weasley) lets slip... "Merlin's Beard!!" lol
Battle Royale sounds very interesting. Unfortunately, my library doesn't have it (I can check their catalog online) and even a used copy from amazon costs $16. Drat.
I have to read the original Pride & Prejudice first. I started it 5 months ago. Got confused so watched the library DVD of it. Read a bit more. Then put it down. Waited so long now... basically have to start over. (And I found a Cliff Notes for $1 or less about it.)
I put a book on my christmas list: 92 Pacific Boulevard by Debbie Macomber. I have the rest of the series except this most recent addition. I havn't started the series yet as I figured I'd read through it from beginning to end once I started. (Which is hard to do when it's got 2 or 3 more unwritten novels in the series lol)
I'm definetly intimidated by Outlander. A friend highly recommended it and gave me a copy of the book. I havn't read it yet because I read alot of reviews of the book. Either you love it or you hate it. I'm not happy about the (although mild) abuse in the book. (If you've ever been a victom of abuse, you seriously don't need to read about it.) or the male kissing. I've got the first two books in the series... but havn't read either.
I hear ya Renee. What game(s) I like there changes monthly, lol, but I still end up wasting 2 hours a day (1 morning and 1 evening) to keep up on all my currently played games there. lol
I started watching more tv once I got cable recently. I've been tying the two together though. I have been reading several books lately made into tv/movies (Mash A Novel About Three Army Doctors) or books based on tv shows (Murder, She Wrote Trick or Treachery).
I love the TV show Castle about a writer, Richard Castle, who is shadowing a female police detective and helping her while doing research on his books. In the show, his first Nikki Heat novel is called Heat Wave. They actually released a real book in hardcover right now, called Heat Wave with the byline Richard Castle. I'm 2nd in line on the reserve list at the library to read it.
Usually my kids are what interrupt my reading time the most so I get alot done while they are in school, waiting for them to get out of school while I'm in the car, or after they are in bed.
I have to finish reading the original Pride & Prejudice first. The book was hard enough to follow that I actually broke down and watched the movie. Now I have to get back to the book. Been months so might have to start over. lol
Your welcome Shannon. I'm looking forward to reading the two Study short stories that center around other characters from the book.
Finally picked up Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder.
I discovered on the author's website some free short stories. Two of the stories available (synopsis below) relate to her Study trilogy. For those of you who liked the trilogy and couldn't get enough...

POWER STUDY is about Ari and Janco as they deal with a Sandseed Magician and a cocky young soldier.
ASSASSIN STUDY is an online serial story about the trouble Valek is involved in while Yelena is in Sitia.
Off to start Magic Study tomorrow.
I would think that a vampire wouldn't be able to get a cross tattoo after becoming a vampire without odd side effects. Wether a person that already has a cross tattoo who gets bitten and becomes a vampire has an ill effects from it... no clue.
The international group I was part of is the SCA (Society for Creative Ananchronism). There is a wide range of participants from the casual player to the person whose mundane life pays for their medieval life. I was on the very mild side. Just enough garb to look mildly authentic but not obcessed with hoop skirts and ruffs. lol (I wore tunics. Easier to sew.)
I have bookcases all over the house. I usually buy books used from thrift shops, garage sales, the annual library book sale and occassionally buy used online. It's rare for me to pay full price for a book. I also have boxes of really old books in the basement. My bookshelves are also 2 or 3 deep and 2 high for paperbacks. lol
As for Mallory's book, I used to do medieval re-enactments so I figured the language shouldn't be that hard for me. But it's still a slow hard book to read. It may be around 1000 pages, but my hardback copy is still nearly two inches thick.
I bought it, I started it, but it was a tough enough read I gave up. I figure at some point I'll revisit it. Eventually. I havn't sold the book anyway. lol
