Iorich? Its out already?
Guess this has been floating around the net for last couple of days.
Lynn Viehl has posted her royalty statement and basically just confirmed what everyone knew, Most writers are broke

I was trying to think of a better word than donate, Support the Blog is great.I was reading Scalzi's blog the other day and he posted an interesting point about the recession, writers and publishers.
Here is the link

When I read this one I liked it. It was a break from Naismith, we got to see more of the "real" Miles. I enjoyed it.After reading Jo Waltons review I would have to say I could see where fans reading the books as they were published would be a little put off, its a bit different that Mirror Dance and Brothers in Arms.
When we started reading the book, I found out he has a Blog. Quite interesting read. I noticed that the Posts stoped September 18th.
Apparently he has been quite sick with acute pancreatitis and was just released from Hostpital around Nov 11th

Hmm this quite a little conundrum. While it bothers me about his reasons, basically he blew his own finances. I am of the mind that if its kinda selfish then I don't want to know. Ebay guys charging exorbitant shipping charges to pay for gas or their time. I don't want to know. I pay an author via his books. If he wants a website fine, if he wants help paying for it cause if his bad decisions then I have a problem.My biggest issue is what happens if he gets to much cash? does he disable to the button? what does he do with the extra cash?
All he had to do was add a button and watch and wait. There was no need for the drama.
hmmReading from the old man. He bugged me for years to read more than just SF and Fantasy, it wasn't till about 20 years ago that I started expanding my reading list.
I hope my kids pick up my love of reading and films.
Most of the early Brust wont be in Hardcover. I think the first Vald books were either Issola back in 2002
I think ABC is thinking, Dec nobody watching, Jan and Feb is Olympics and don't want to fight that.Dollhouse is on its last legs and they pulled it for Nov sweeps and Fringe was pushed out by Baseball
I watched it last night and I guess my main complaint is that they rushed it. They could of waited a couple episodes while they tracked the terroists and the sons decision to join the ambassadors could of been expanded.
FYI, they are only airing 4 episodes, then we wait for March for the rest.
Walking past a bookstore today looked in the window and 2 books caught my eyeThe Da Vinci Legacy
The Towers
I took a break reading the series after phoenix and when I started again I was confused. Went online a found out that Brust was not writing the books in a particular order.Whats even worse, Dragon takes place in 3 different times.
Here is the Published order# Jhereg (1983)
# Yendi (1984)
# Teckla (1987)
# Taltos (1988)
# Phoenix (1990)
# Athyra (1993)
# Orca (1996)
# Dragon (1998)
# Issola (2001)
# Dzur (2006)
# Jhegaala (2008)
# Iorich (Scheduled for January 2010)
I personally would read them in Published order the first time because you will be spoiled if you read them in order of the internal chronology
The following is a Chrological list
* Taltos
* Dragon
* Yendi
* Jhereg
* Teckla
* Phoenix
* Jhegaala
* Athyra
* Orca
* Issola
* Dzur
* Iorich
Thats it! "the arrogance, the condescension, the undecision"
Its still there but almost a low hum in the background. Jordan's voice made them scream it. Sanderson's is understated.
Another FYI for the Vlad books, If you read the books in Published order the timeline bounces around. So actions in the previous book might not of happened yet.
The Gathering StormBeen waiting for this for a while, 2 reasons, see how Sanderson handles himself and gett some closure.
Speaking of covers. I have been reading The Gathering Storm while its nice to have closure I feel that Sanderson just doesn't have the voices of the characters. I realise he isn't trying to mimic Jordan's style, I miss it.Other than that, I am enjoying it
Marty wrote: "I did think the cover was noticeably bad. I've never liked any of them, really too unreal and soft. But this once while in the same style as the others was worse."I agree, this cover isn't great. I never liked the artist who has done the covers
