I think he meant it tongue in cheek since that's been her reputation for 100 years -- at least I hope that's how he meant it.:)
Thanks so much. Evelyn's grandson told me how weird it was at first to look over my shoulder into his own family's past but thanked me for offering a sympathetic view into what everyone always considered his "grandma's wicked wicked ways."
Hi. Just a quick note that American Eve, my gilded age bio/true crime book on Evelyn Nesbit, is going to be in the NY Times Paperback Row on May 10th. Also check out the following:

Hi all. An excerpt from the first chapter of my book, American Eve, is in today's Wall Street Journal and online. I've also added it today to my Goodreads page. Take a look. thanks.

Hi. My website is up and running for my book American Eve. Please check it out at www.americaneve.com
thanks!
I may be somewhat prejudiced because his marvelous novel, Ragtime, was a tremendous inspiration for me while working on my own book, American Eve (which is non-fiction), but E.L. Doctorow has singlehandedly reinvented the historical novel for ours and subsequent generations. His last novel, The March, is about Sherman's march during the civil war and focuses on the fascinating idea of the emancipated slaves who follow the Union army in the search to form a new identity. My other favorites are Ragtime (already mentioned) and The Book of Daniel (about the Rosenbergs who were executed as Communist spies).
