15282 And another one leaves when they realize they have no facts to stand on. *sigh*
Abortion (442 new)

15282 Gandhi could have also been aborted. A Hitler-like person and a Gandhi-like person have probably been aborted millions of times, through miscarriages and operation.

15282 That's hardly specific. What denomination? Is it because Meyer is Mormon?

15282 "Why did you pick apart my opinion? When I posted, I didn't think my post would be criticized."

What the fuck did you expect to happen, everyone fall down and worship it? This is about debate and defending your position. Can you do that?

"My opinion is that if you are not mature enough to have a baby, then you aren't mature enough to have sex."

There are plenty of adults who aren't mature enough for a baby either. How do you propose to stop them from having sex?

"2844444 And, another thing, if it is my belief that everyone has souls, then let me believe that. Because I am a christian, the bible states we have souls, so that is what I will believe. My reasons are not poor."

You believe because you were told it was right and you obviously don't question it.

15282 "and raising the driving age to 20 or 21."

Except kids go away to college before then, and if they live off campus they wouldn't be able to drive anywhere.

15282 "If you want to learn, your going too. '

Or are inspired to. I love learning, because when I was little, I was taken to museums and librarys for fun. X)

15282 "The reverse: Public school kids are often idiots."

That's because public school's job is to provide for the general population. Not a select group of sheletered children.

"liked it enough... I can see why people choose to homeschool—for one thing, you're surrounded by topics that YOU'RE interested in learning (also, many opportunities for research outside of home/school), not by what is given to you as part of an overall 'education'.
"

Public school is most similar to the real world, ergo you should learn how to deal in public so the work world isn't a shocker.

15282 "As you stated at least. Or if they new how to FIGHT without guns, and trained properly, your gun wouldn't affect them. Possible strategy:
Wait until your clip is empty
Charge in and then beat the **** out of you"

Flaw, is that the clip has at least 6 shots. They will not all miss.

"On the soul matter, for both Dan and Nathan, I'll have to ask what education the both of you have before I can answer it."

So, if they are educated individuals, then you know there is no hope of convincing them that a "soul" exists and any won't try?

15282 hahaha.

It's either you go to the public school, which is receiving all of your tax funding and has the best facilities for the area possible, or you spend even more money not only paying for a school you're not using but trying to recreate something you can't.

15282 Same. I could discuss politics, but just as easily slip into fangirlism about Harry Potter or my fav bands. I can even talk about Twilight because I read them all. XD

15282 "995786 I'm not saying that talking about films is immature. I'm talking about when that's ALL they want to talk about and politics becomes stupid, boring, and unnecessary, which is a lie within itself. "

That's why people go into honors and gifted programs.

"My friends only find gossip interesting. When they gossip only about celebrities and the films they're in and dismiss politics as something that isn't important, it becomes immature. Am I wrong?"

It's important to learn how to function on an immature level. You may be the most mature person in the room, but that won't help you connect with anyone in it.
