Oh, I enjoy time-travel also, Ronica. Going to add this one to my stack. Thank you!
Ronica--and anyone else--if you enjoy a good romantic western I highly recommend:"Ride the Fire" and "Surrender" by Pamela Clare.
They are colonial frontier historicals and thought both were awesome.
Hi Ronica! Welcome to this group. I haven't read "The Angel and the Outlaw" by Madeline Baker. Sounds like a western?
Ronica, welcome to Goodreads and this group! Good to have you here. Tammy, I remember what you said happened with Tante Lulu's character. Still can't wrap my brain around that visual, either. When I'm looking for something really funny, I'll grab one of her Cajun series off Mt TBR. Picked up one of her Viking books the other day and didn't realize it was a time-travel. :-)
Debbie, Marliss Melton is one of my favorite authors. After reading Auntee's review, on "Show No Fear" I decided to tackle that book later. Did you know her Site indicates "SNF" was the end of this series? If I remember correctly (we talked about this in the Romantic Suspense Group) her publisher asked her to write
Debbie wrote: "I'm on chapter 4 of Heat Seeker by Lora Leigh. I'm enjoying it so far."Been watching the reviews come in on that one, Debbie. Sadly, I put it down because the plot bothered me. My mind needed something that required less concentration, for now. I do intend to finish it, but later. May have to start it all over again. Believe I got to just after chapter 4 when I reached for something else. Yikes!
Ew. Most of those sounded fairly cruddy, Photojim. Blech and all that! I've tried to read a Bertrice Small book, "A Dangerous Love," and couldn't finish it. Never tried anything else by her. (That one made Eastofoz's cootie shelf, by the way--in case she's reading this.)I have "Start Me Up" by Victoria Dahl to read. Enjoyed "Talk Me Down" by her. Hopefully, I'll get to it soon. Good to know it has some funny moments. :-)
I'm reading "The Darkest Whisper" by Gena Showalter. She's a hoot when she writes. Some of her books are more serious, but her newer stuff has a lot of smart-a** humor that has me chuckling. It's number 4 in her Lords of the Underworld series...a paranormal romance.
Another paranormal by Gena that I recommend if looking for laugh-out-loud funny is "Playing with Fire." It's the first in a series with #2 coming out soon.
As for funny contemporaries: Sandra Hill's Cajun series, 2-4. I haven't read 1, 5+ so can't recommend them, seen mixed reviews on them though.
Just finished a contemporary (western)--erotic in nature--that is part of a series. The others in the series don't appeal to me, but when I saw the reviews on Tied Up, Tied Down I wanted to give this author a try.
Nice couple! Excellent story weaving....
Just finished a quick Harlequin Blaze, "Her Last Line of Defense" by Marie Donovan and wanted to share it with others.
First of all, thank you, Auntee, for bringing it to my attention. I did enjoy it!
It's a new book, so should be able to find it at books stores in the romance series section. Very HOT little book, too. I'd call it erotic. Neat characters, quick paced, nicely written, some humor--military style.
Jim! Welcome to the group. I'm not a big fan of Harlequin series books, but do enjoy a good laugh-out-loud romance. Sandra Hill's Cajun series (2-4) springs to mind. The setting is modern/Louisiana. I haven't read the first in the series or books 5+.Here's the link to Sandra Hill in this group.
p.s. They also made my "hot" shelf. ;-)
Sadly, I couldn't get into the characters or the book. Gave it through page 60 and decided it was not for me. Hated how Jason Andrews' character was developing. What an egotistical ... not showing up for their appointments, going to Las Vegas instead... rude. I thought I would be laughing by page 60, but I was frowning more and more. Didn't see myself liking it, so moved on to something else.
Yikes!
I'm starting Just the Sexiest Man Alive by Julie James. Supposed to be a funny, contemporary romance. :-) I've never read anything by this author before, so looking forward to some new stuff.
Julie James
Just the Sexiest Man Alive
I'm reading Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost. It's the first book in her Night Huntress series; a paranormal that is pretty funny so far. :-)
Southpaw, was that post meant for this group? I'm not aware of any group reads in the Contemporary Romance Group. :-)
