Happy T day to you, too!
Did you guys see that there was a horror movie called Thankskilling about a talking mutant turkey that is a mad killer? It looks pretty darn cheesy. I would not call it literary.
Yes, I would have told you about Reginald Hill. Love him! Still have to read the new one, and the one before that. I am falling behind.
I love the Merrily Watkins series too! I read about three of them so far. I have some more at home. They are often harder to get because I don't think they are published in the US as of yet. My library just started to get the newer ones.. somehow they were able to order them from the UK.
Gosh I love writers from the UK. How do they write these things so well?
I seem to deteriorate in every group that I join and end up plugging mysteries. Maybe I should join a mystery group? I am in one, but I never talk there!
I love Christopher Fowler. I am a big fan of locked room type stuff (like John Dickson Carr) and Fowler layers his so well, with so much added content and strange facts. Sometimes they get so complex, I have to set them down a bit to digest them, but all in all, it is like a mystery buffet. Some mysteries fall into the shorter, simpler category, but these are usually over 400 pages and always keep me guessing. I say always but I am only on the third, and I am quite confused.
Also, try Gilbert Adair! His Evadne Mount trilogy (at least the first one) was wonderful. Throwback to classic British mysteries and very fun.
I am sure we will still be speaking after the Pines! I decided I wanted to read it before I read the Shore, because the Pines was first. Then I got distracted.
Robert, finally got off my duff and ordered the Pines! And I am gonna read it, too!
Did you finish the Gates? It was wonderful. You are so right about Connolly... he is amazing. I have a few more at home and can't wait to read them. Of course I have this Christopher Fowler to get through and the new Stephen King. That one may take me two months... the sucker is long!
