Sandman was good, American Gods was less than Sandman but passable but after that, everything went downhill.

13824 Barker has become too whimsical for his own good, as of late, kind of a pale imitation of Neil Gaiman who became too whimsical for his own good a few years ago.

13824 It's going up in my blurbs tab. On Sunday, Archelon Ranch came out and yesterday, Murderland II Life During Wartime did. I've got five signed copies available on the blog I mentioned, both at a pretty solid discount.

13824 Glad to hear it. That issue kind of slipped under the radar.

13824 Check out number three then. I'm in that one.

13824 I pretty much only write nonlinear narrative. Most of my favorite books are either nonlinear or feature unreliable narrators. It does get in the way of commercial appreciation, but getting in the way of charting a person's psyche or telling a good story is worse.

13824 Joe's stories are very different from his dad's stuff. Heart Shaped Box was kind of Stephen Kingish, but Twentieth Century Ghosts isn't. The stories in there range from literary horror to almost straight up Bizarro.

(Garrett -- never a fan of Campbell's writing, but I sure love that movie.)"

I can understand that. Golden age sci-fi really varies qualitywise. I've had a hard time finding things from that era to read.

13824 Who Goes There? by I believe John W. Campbell became the Thing from Another World.

13824 I would consider it more of a doorstop than anything. Its printing as an environmental atrocity almost as bad as all that rainforest Mc Donald's uses for cattle ranching.
13824 Check out my book Murderland Part 1:H8. There's a lot in it about a reluctant serial killer and his relationship with his girlfriend, who is obsessed with the culture of violence. The twist is that all this happens in a world where murder is socially acceptable and serial killers are the hottest celebrities in existence. He doesn't want to be famous and is disgusted by the whole thing and she thinks he's boring and sort of prudish because she doesn't know what he's done. The reviews explain it better than I do.
