is one I read last year. I had never read any others in the series and didn't have any trouble following it. Also
is one I have coming up soon. I've only read the first in this series and this is like the 3rd or 4th.

Have read all the Savannah Reid books and am anxiously awaiting the next which comes out in January. I love all the characters, even Dirk, and reading one of those books is like visiting with old friends. I feel the same way about Earlene Fowler's Benni Harper series and Susan Wittig Albert's China Bayles series.

I read this a few years ago and liked it. I think it's one of my higher rated ones in this series. I decided to quit the series after disliking THAI DIE so much.
Currently reading
,
and
. Of the 3, the latter is the closest to an actual mystery and all 3 are good reads! Denise, I finished
and enjoyed it. I gave it a 7 out of 10. It's only the 4th Macomber book I've read.
Denise, I've read some of Selma Eichler's books. I think I read at least 7 of them or so, and the overweight stuff wore thin real fast. I've also read quite a few of the Magdalena Yoder books and they've grown tiresome, too. I got tired of Magdalena's wailing and carrying on.
Laura Levine's Jaine Austen series is funny. Sometimes a little too much so, but if you're looking for something like that they definitely fit the bill. While not cozies, Robert B. Parker's Spenser books are quite entertaining. Spenser always has a smart ass remark and the exchanges between him & Hawk are quite funny usually.
Beth wrote: "Along with Donna Andrews funny mysteries, I enjoy Tim Cockey's undertaker series for humor."
I really liked Cockey's Hitchcock Sewell books, too. Maybe he'll write another one someday.
Heather L wrote: "Hey, Melodie: Finally finished A Touch of Dead, and did enjoy the stories. Man...I want what Sookie got for Christmas! ;)"
Couldn't we all do with a little of that!! ;-)
Heather L wrote: "Just finished I Scream, You Scream A Mystery À La Mode -- a good, fun book! Now on to A Touch of Dead by Charlaine Harris. "
I just loved I SCREAM, YOU SCREAM! You'll enjoy A TOUCH OF DEAD if you haven't read the stories in other anthologies already!
Lorene wrote: "I've been catching up on the the Needlecraft Mysteries by Monica Ferris -- just finished Thai Die and am now reading Blackwork"
I used to really like this series, but disliked THAI DIE so much I decided to move on to series that I KNOW I really like all the time. The Needlecraft books just seemed way up & down to me.
Barb wrote: "I'm reading Candy Apple Dead by Sammi Carter. It's good--I always wanted to open a candy shop in a small town in Colorado so I enjoy the background of the book. "
I like this series. The small town of Paradise, CO, I'm pretty sure is based on Georgetown which is a pretty little town not too far up in the hills from Denver.

I've read the first 2 in this series. They're okay, but definitely nothing to write home about.

HARDBALL is one of my top rated books this year! Loved it! I liked the civil rights back story.
Denise wrote: "Here are a few more Author websites that have other interesting things on them:

Blaize Clement's Dixie Hemingway series is consistently good. Dixie grows as a character and all the stories have been excellent, so far. Am looking forward to the next one which I think comes out in January.
Heidi wrote: "I just finished
. I liked it. Anyone read the entire series? Is it worth it?"
They are good up to a point. The last 3 have been severely lacking and the most recent one convinced me that the series has run its course for me. Even the recipes haven't caught my attention very much these last few books. But there's a brownie recipe in the one that has chocolate in the title that is wonderful!

I read the first one in this series and have this one in The Pile. She had a thing on her website that she was looking for lawyer jokes for book #3. I sent her one and she e-mailed me back that she was going to use it! Supposedly if she picked your joke you are supposed to get a mention in the acknowledgements or something and something else, but I forgot what!
