I've already paid 75 cents in fines. I got a pre-overdue email, renewed but didn't get an email when it was due again. I was expecting to get the email so didn't pay attention to the time. I have complained to a certain guy about that. :>)
Looks like Jon and I will actually make it this time (knock on wood!). We have missed being there...
I don't have anything to add to the list of 'Books that aren't great' (right now) but I wanted to share a book review blog written by my niece. Being totally unbiased, of course, I thnk her book reviews are wonderful - smart, funny, entertaining... I found her latest entry especially good. You can find it at http://constance-reader.blogspot.com/. Let me know if you like it (I don't want to know if you don't cuz I am a protective Aunt).

I'm new on this site (and quickly getting addicted) and just found this group. Headed here when I saw the sign in the library that they're cutting costs... which means that by July 1..."
A little birdie (named Jon) told me that you don't have to actually pare down your holds by July 1st. If you have more than 25 holds you just can't add any more to the list until it is below 25.
The fines are WAY more worrisome. I always have overdues - just like a good librarian should! :>)
Jon and I are still good with April 4th. My top meeting place choices are:
Fishbowl
Spar
Swing
But I'm not picky so any of your suggestions would do. :>)
I'm really looking forward to having all y'all over this Saturday. I have been talking to all my animals about being on their best behavior. Sure hope they are listening :>)
Yes, please add it to the events calendar. You'll need my address... 1916 Brown St SE
Let me know if you need any other info. Jon has a new batch of homebrew ready for tasting. We may also have a selection of whiskey and scotch for those who care. Otherwise, bring what you like to drink. Yes, we will attempt the bourbon furnace, with help from Kristi since she had successful results over Thanksgiving:>) And tell JD we might have a cigar or two available.
Hello all -
I think the concensus was that the 2nd weekend in January was good for the January gathering - please correct me if I'm wrong. I am still quite happy to have it at my house. But what time do you want to do it? 6:30? Should we all bring a finger food/snacky item/heavy hors d'oeuvres? And, of course, the books you wish to share.
Hopefully the weather will improve before then :>)

Eve Dallas ('In death' books) is the same way.
I like the Honor Harrington series by David Weber and the 'In Death' books by JD Robb. I sometimes wonder what it says about me that I love these characters so much... I want to grow up to be them, maybe...
I did go to the Weird Washington presentation. I'm afraid it wasn't as interesting as the book. I don't think these guys are veteran presenters. Great book, though.
I am giving my siblings the book 'Weird Washington' (just because it looks like fun - they all live on the East Coast so I know they don't have it). I might get 'Websterisms: A Collection of Words and Definitions Set Forth by the Founding Father of American English' and 'American Lion: Andrew Jackson in the White House' for other family members.
As for books I want, I usually prefer a gift card for any bookstore so that I can browse and get what strikes me at the moment.
