Library Fines (22 new)
19 days ago, 08:29PM

1320 Wow - that's a hefty sum in fines. I know I, as a library patron, was bombarded with information about the fines coming... I got emails, talked to staff (even though I only do self checkout) saw a bajillion brightly colored signs all over the checkout and drop off counters, and saw things posted all over the website. I hope you're in the minority.

1320 thank you, thank you very much! ;) If i ever hear people complain when I'm in the library, I'll take 'em out back for you. ;)

1320 Really? It's so dumb. Of course there are fines, folks, it's a library. We've gotten off SOOOO easy over the past umpteen years. People are LAME and you can tell them I told you. It's MY fault the books are late, therefore, it's MY responsibility to pay.

Doesn't get much clearer than that!

1320 LOL - Jackie, I do what I can.

Sad thing is... I forgot the one that had a request on it... so I paid another 15 cents for today. ;) It's in my purse, and fortunately I work minutes from the downtown branch... it's getting dropped off before 7 am tomorrow!!! EESH!

Glad to know I'm not alone, though... ;)

1320 I did... and I forgot. ;) LOL I get the emails and then think... OK, I should renew in 2-3 days. 5 or 6 days later... I owe $$. It says I'm at $5.60 right now, but i have to turn in a book tomorrow that's requested so it won't renew... which will add another 60 cents I think.

I've gotta change how I do the library! ;)

1320 I just need to say... is it sad that at the beginning of November I already owe above what I'm allowed to owe at the library? ;) It's only been, what? 5 weeks? Apparently I am a habitual offender... and need to put library late fines into my budget.

I just thought I'd share.

1320 Never read Grisham? Wow... I like his lawyer stuff. And he wrote a silly short novel called Playing for Pizza that, while it was certainly not a literary great, was fun to read.

1320 I got in an argument with my dad over this one...

I DESPISED A Painted House by John Grisham.

I bored from the beginning, but with each turn of the page I kept hoping that classic Grisham would appear. But... page by never-ending page... NOTHING.

I like this thread... :)

1320 I LOVED Pippi Longstocking. I WAS her for Halloween once. Straws in my hair made it stick out like hers....

1320 LOL - yeah, that's what they told me, too. ;) Problem is... sometimes I use the hold list as a place to store books I WANT to read, just not RIGHT NOW. So they're all going on here. :D

The fines... October 1st (I did some sleuthing). Then I warned my whole family. I need to start practicing the overdue thing... i.e. NOT having them!

Hope you're all enjoying the SUNSHINE!!!

1320 Hi everyone!
I'm new on this site (and quickly getting addicted) and just found this group. Headed here when I saw the sign in the library that they're cutting costs... which means that by July 1 my 80-100 book hold list has to be down to 25 (are they CRAZY?!). :)

Seriously, though - I've lived elsewhere, but Thurston county is HOME to me... and books are pretty much my favorite.

I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you! I anticipate I'll be on here as often as I am on Facebook... oy!
