The emails have been helpful; I'm only at 45 cents right now, and I think that might be from a book I had out when the fines started! Alas, I've had to take back a few books unread...my eyes are bigger than my time budget.
Not sure about Sept 11 or 12...I'm on vacation that week, and my birthday is the 10th, so we may be going out of town. (We've done that in years past.)Might I suggest a lunch get-together in lieu of after-work?
Crazy, I missed that too. (Was playing D&D, for reals, with entirely new player. Seriously fun. She killed a wyvern right off the bat!)22nd is also Eastside N'hood Assoc picnic, for which I am lead volunteer. (Also, insane.) Like Jackie, I can come to the meetup, but I'll be hoarse. Hey, maybe we'll end up talking girlycon then anyhow. :)
whoops! turns out C scheduled a get-together with friends at the same time, and this is one we've had to postpone a couple of times. :\can we do Saturday (same bat-time same bat-channel) instead?
Ok, I'll be there. (Looks like weather isn't going to be so great for camping, which was the vacation possibility. Am on vacation this week. So glad I saw Kelsey, otherwise prob'ly would've totally spaced it!)
I'm in a non-buying phase with books while we work on our remodel, so I don't have anything to swap. (Actually, anything I had left went to the Oly Library a few weeks ago in a clean-up/purge.)
I've been to Sizizis once...it's tiny & kinda dark, but nice atmosphere. (I just had tea, so I can't speak to the quality of coffee.)
Weekends are usually pretty clear for me, depending on the weather. (Yardwork & such) The 31st is one of my Fridays off, so that might be good.
Re Michael Connelly: I thought Crime Beat was quite "meh" and I'm a huge Connelly fan. (As in, one of the few authors whose books I actually collect. Mostly via Xmas presents from mom, though!) When he gets to make stuff up, he's much better. :)
Something in the wintertime sounds good to me, btw. Not so much into the Twilight thing, maybe the old Anne of Green Gables miniseries?
I'm pretty excited about the SCIFIFEST, too. :) (the Friends approved the budget request on the 16th!)
"It’s what happens when people get together for a celebration, analysis, and discussion of girlcanon - those often overlooked and derided books or other media that were especially prized by young girls and teenagers. It doesn’t matter if you identify now or ever as a girl; what matters is girlcanon."
