Here's a list that should help with the multicultural/interracial category: http://www.likesbooks.com/ethnic.html

I originally read LOS not knowing that it was part of a series and didn't feel like I was missing anything at all. I have several other GR friends who did the same thing too. When I realized it was related to other books, I went back and read the first two in the series. The connections between them and LOS are so minimal as to be hardly noticed. I also agree with the ratings. The first two weren't nearly as good IMHO. In fact, if I had read them first, I probably would have missed out on LOS, because I wouldn't have wanted to continue.
I'm in. Will post as I go.Yz, I think you meant to say no reading for this challenge until the first of "January.";-)
OK, I stand corrected.:-) There are actually four on the list that I've read. The two I mentioned above plus Lord of Scoundrels and The Shadow and the Star.Terri and UM, you should definitely try LOS. It's one of my all time favs and ranks highly with most other romance readers too.
Actually, I'm just the opposite of Danielle. I've only read two books from the entire list, Outlander and Fallen From Grace. I definitely agree that both belong on the list, but I think Outlander should be higher.;-) I do have several on my TBR list though. What I'm wondering is where are all the PNR romance? There's hardly any on the list. There are also a lot of extremely talented and popular authors in all genres who did even make the list or only got one mention.:-(
Some of my friends started a fun group where romance readers can nominate and/or vote for our favorite romances. There are 16 different categories with each one broken down into into Published 2009, Read 2009, and All-Time Favorites EVER. They are planning to do the polls every year, and having other fun polls in between. If you'd like to participate in the fun, come and join us. http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/2768...
