I'm in - but considering my other reading challenges [ie 27 children's book manuscripts by mid-January:]... I'm going to wallow in re-reads. My ex-flatmate brought over a box of old Harlequin Regency romances I'd stored under our house... so, between them & others on my shelves...
So it's not too easy - I'm not cross-challenging these ones.
1. Emperor Mage by Tamora Pierce.
2. Lord Tom by Patricia Lynn.
3. The Tin Princess by Philip Pullman.
4. Thea's Marquis by Carola Dunn.
5. The absentee earl by Clarice Peters.
6. Sometimes a lady by Lnda Randall Wisdom.
7. A Susceptible Gentleman by Carola Dunn.
8. The Prince and the Showgirl by JoAnn Ross.
9. King of Swords by Lindsey McKenna.
10. Kenton's Countess by Janeane Jordan.
Earlier in the year, one of our quarterly challenges was "men we love" - could we do a "women we love" sometime?
I know men are much more interesting - but the best hero needs a decent heroine - or, if you're like me, you want to throw the book...
"For something completely different, an erotic historical romance I read on the recommendation of one of my GR friends-never read that genre..."
Between you, you've convinced ME to try it! Tosca - we'll have to compare notes...

My body has betrayed me! But no worries. I'm going in Wed morning in the pre-dawn hours to ..."
Whew! Fingers-crossed.
Sometimes our bodies just really have to shout 'enough! time out!!!'... until we realise we have to STOP.
I've been off work with bronchitis (a piddly little problem, really) - but it's my first sick leave in 3 years.

That's my reasoning for this month, too! I never read when I'm away... holiday or work.
Glutton for punishment... but cross-challenging, re-reading, & picking (I hope!) quick & easy books for this one...
D: Dodd, Christina - Storm of Visions.
E: Eye Of The Storm A Civil War Odyssey by Maura Seger... not a Civil War romance, promise! Unless the Civil War & the Second World War happen to be the same thing...
http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/s/maur...
C:: Cooke, Kaz - Living With Crazy Buttocks.
E:: Eternal Lover by lots of people.
M:: Marriage In A Bottle by Carolyn Zane.
B:: Blaze of Memory by Nalini Singh.
E:: Elliott, Patricia - The Pale Assassin.
R:: Rampant by Diana Peterfreund.
I really have to read 27 manuscripts [children's books by unpublished authors, the joy:] and all the New Zealand children's & young adults books published in 2009, which I've been putting off!
Consquently, where possible, I'm going with cross-challenge books, quick & easy re-reads - or plain old quick & easy. Taking it easy this month!
1. December: Title starts with 'D': Dragonquest by Anne McCaffrey.
2. December b'day shelves: Poison Study by Maria Synder. From Kristen's shelves.
3. Geography: Ohio: A Date with the Other Side by Erin McCarthy.
4. "Winter" words: The Winter Queen by Amanda McCabe.
5. Christmas theme: A Wallflower Christmas by Lisa Kleypas.
6. International Children's Day: Mrs. Scrooge by Barbara Bretton.
7. May/December Affair: First and Forever by Katherine Kendall.
8. Challenge Holiday Gift: The Surgeon of Crowthorne A Tale of Murder, Madness and the Oxford English Dictionary by Simon Winchester. From 'Ready Your Life' challenge.
9. Explore-a-genre: "Category" romance: The Heart of Christmas A Handful of Gold\The Season for Suitors\This Wicked Gift by Mary Balogh & others.
10. Pick-it-for me: TBD... depends on my mood...
The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale OR
Silk by Alessandro Baricco OR
Soulless by Gail Carriger. Thanks, once again, for the picks Kasia!
Photojim wrote: "Well, I'll do my best, but December looks to be a really bad month. Hospital and holiday will take up all my time that I foresee, but I'll try..."
Oh no! All the best Photojim.
Hi Jess. Sorry for the wait! Hmmm... very little in common - so I've gone with books that you might not have thought about! Hope you can track down any of these.
Following on from Tosca's query about TBRs... I highly recommend you do read The Hunger Games on your TBR list...
Otherwise...
Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause. Young adult, werewolves... I have a friend - guy in his 50s - who recommends this to teenage boys!
The Fairy Godmother by Mercedes Lackey. First in a series set in a fantasy world, and based upon fairytales.
The Serpent's Shadow by Mercedes Lackey. Set in Edwardian London - with magic. First in a series about the Elemental Masters.
Keepsake Crimes by Laura Childs. First in a series - mysteries, solved by a scrapbooking shop owner.
Kasia wrote: "Annie, this is what I came up with:
The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale - a fairytale retelling. I've noticed all the McKinleys on your shelves, it's not McKinley, but it's good..."
Thanks Kasia! I've requested all of them from the library [ie work:]... and will decide which one, depending on how I feel!
All done... See Tosca, I took your idea and ran with it (but don't recommend the actual 'sick' part of sick leave)...
N - No Rest for the Witches by lots of people. 2 Nov.
O -
Outsider by Barbara Delinksy. 18 Nov.
V - Verrette, Joyce - To Love and to Conquer. 13 Nov.
E - Erin McCarthy - Hard and Fast. 13 Nov.
M - Magician's Ward by Patricia Wrede. 19 Nov.
B - Belong To The Night by lots of people. 1 Nov.
E - Elvenblood by Andre Norton & Mercedes Lackey. 16 Nov.
R - Robin McKinley - Deerskin. 9 Nov.
A lot are on my 'read your life' list...
