I just got my hands on a copy of
and I cannot wait to read it! I just read the first sentence and it sent shivers of down my spine...and then I ended up reading the whole first chapter before I realized that I had some homework that needed to be completed...
I loved The Little House on the Prairie series...I read them when I was a lot younger and I envisioned that I was Laura and thought she was one of the coolest people ever. I even have a bonnet that I bought in honor of her.
I'm not reading anything particularly exciting, but I am off to the library to pick up some reserves, so I'm hoping for something to lighten my day. there is nothing quite like a gloomy day with a great book to curl up on the couch and read.
hahah, it's totally fine - you can pick any YA novel to play.Sorcery and Cecelia or The Enchanted Chocolate Pot: Being the Correspondence of Two Young Ladies of Quality Regarding Various Magical Scandals in London and the Country
List your favorite characters from books, the people that you would love to pop right out of the book and into your living room so that you could have a nice chat!
Some of my favorite characters are:
Tally Youngblood from Uglies
Gregor from Gregor the Overlander series
Anidori-Kiladra Talianna Isilee from The Goose Girl
Luneta from The Lioness and Her Knight
Katniss from The Hunger Games
Lina & Doon from The City of Ember
Jonas from The Giver
Juli & Bryce from Flipped
Steven from Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie
Candy Quackenbush from Abarat
Okay, here's how this game works: I leave a young adult book title in a post and the next person has to take the last letter of my title and name another book. Like this:
Uglies --> Searching for Dragons
A couple rules: you can't have the titles of books be "a" "an" or "the" you start with the next word, so "The Princess Bride" would be filed under P. Try to only use young adult novels, this is after all, a Young Adult book group.
I'll start us off with:
How To Take The Ex Out Of Ex-boyfriend
The Gregor series are what got me hooked on Suzanne Collins...when I heard that she had a new series out I was seriously stoked. And now I am anxiously awaiting Catching Fire...
I am currently reading Bogus to Bubbly An Insider's Guide to the World of Uglies by Scott Westerfeld so far it is great - I am excited to to get a peek into the world of Tally Youngblood and the rest of the Pretties/Specials/Extras
I would be super stoked to see a trailer for Airborn...I'm sure it would be ah-mazing.Yes! The Princess Bride is an excellent book! It is even better then the movie (if you can believe that) but it is like an extended version, and it even has scenes in there that never show up in the movie....you can cram so much more information into a book then a movie. The screenplay writer for the movie was the author of the book (the book came first) and it is very much like the movie. I would highly recommend reading it, it's great.
I am looking forward to:the next 2 books after The Hunger Games
The books that Shannon Hale is releasing this year
Next two books in the Bloody Jack series
Starclimber by Kenneth Oppel (sequel to Airborn and Skybreaker)
and that is all that I can think of at the moment, though I know there are plenty more...
Oh My Goodness! I JUST finished reading The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins! It was amazing! If you are a fan of fantasy/sci-fi and love spunky heroines then you should definitely check out this book. It's kind of like Uglies meets Ender's Game meets The Giver meets The Wind Singer...
What books are you anxiously waiting to come out? You've read all the rest of the books in the series and cannot wait to read the last one and find out what happens. Or, you've read everything by this author and are stoked that they've written another book. Post your thoughts here.
I think anyone can make topics in this group...I think I gave members a lot of access when I made this group. So feel free to make another topic!I would be totally stoked to see Airborn in theaters...I might even go opening day.
Here's the link for IMDB:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0421177/
I have lots of favorite books, I have 4 different shelves on goodreads devoted to them...haha
Hey, great idea for a topic....let's see...I think I have a lot...Clive Barker (Abarat series only)
T. A. Barron
Suzanne Collins
Hayley DiMarco
Jeanne Duprau
Shannon Hale
Justin Lookadoo
Lois Lowry
Robin McKinley
Gerald Morris
Garth Nix
Kenneth Oppel
Richard Peck
Terry Pratchett
Janette Rallison
Jordan Sonnenblick
Vivian Vande Velde
Scott Westerfeld
Patricia C. Wrede
Yeahhh...a lot, I don't think that I could just pick three...I'd probably go insane.
I guess I'm such a big fan of Suzanne Collins that I can't even spell her books right....so above there, it is The Hunger GAMES instead of chronicles, that might be the series title....hehheh...whoops. The Land of Elyon books were a good series, I liked them. They are fantasy/adventure type books. The first book is about a young girl who has lived behind walls all her life and takes the plunge to find out what is really out there.
Yep, I know what role-playing is, you could definitely start up a topic in this group involving role-playing. That would be interesting.Airborn was an amazing book, I remember that I read it and was completely taken into the world and just wanted to go live in that place and hang out with Matt and Kate. I did read the sequel, and I think there might even be a third one?! I know that at one point they were in the process of making Airborn into a movie...I'm not sure what is going on now, but I would Totally go see it in theaters if it came out.
I pretty much love any books that Jordan Sonnenblick write. And Notes from the midnight driver was great. It made me laugh, although, my all time favorite novel of his is still his first. What can I say?
