I read this back when it first came out and loved it too. It was really fun to read this thread and bring it back...it's funny to read a bunch of posts and think...yeah...that's what I was thinking too!

Tiffany...I so looked forward to reading this and admitt I did hear a lot of hype...while I enjoyed it ok...I really had expected "more"....I don't know what exactly, but I felt like it wasn't really for children, but not a great adult book either...just ok. I really loved Anansi Boys!
Happy early birthday Mary! You can ask for a gift card for books for your birthday!!! I got Voyager, Drums of Autumn and The Fiery Cross for my birthday in August! I've finished them all! I also got a gift card to Border's!!!!
Go for it Mary!!!! Like I said...the abridged listen was a good idea for 5 and would have been a better idea for #4 my least favorite! You will like DIA once it gets going...I remember it dragged in the beginning!
I finished this one...finally....I did end up really liking it. I listened to the abridged version and also went back and read several hundred pages where I thought I might have missed something....I think it was way longer than it needed to be...it did really pick up at the end though and leaves you wanting to read the next one! Anyone who is turned off by the length, should try the abridged version...but also have the book on hand!!!

I am in the reincarnation, eternal love through history camp. Shhhh! Don't tell anyone I may be a romantic at heart after all...."
Jill...you're funny!
Mary...I just looked at the pictures...yes, that's very nasty...makes me feel sick...I remember it really bothered me even when I read it....I can't believe they could even try to walk...how awful...

Silver...I love what you wrote...great description! I totally agree that the reader gets to decide...I chose the love story...not insanity....
If it were my daughter, I think I'd just let her have "big" feet...so what that she could only have been a farmer's wife....many of them had happier lives than Snowflower ever had!!! I couldn't imagine doing that to my child just to raise her social position in life....how dreadful!
