A Dirty Job: A Novel
This was my first Moore and I loved it, had some really funny laugh out loud parts. I haven't read any others yet but will do some in the coming year. I have heard from people who have read a few of his books that this is amongst their favourite though.
Never too late, you can always still post away and we'll check in with the discussion when you do so, we'd be happy to hear what you think of it.
I watched The Jane Austen Book Club yesterday and really liked it, I had read the book a while ago but couldn't really remember the storyline so didn't know what to expect but it was a perfect way to spend my lazy afternoon.
Jenny, what did you think of the TOBG? I read it a while back now but really liked it, it made me go out and buy The Tudors and Elizabeth and want to read more books by Gregory.
Wow, five is very hard. Let's see, I'll go at the moment:
Shawshank
Tombstone
Dirty Dancing
Dark Blue
Backdraft
Please note that I could easily list at least 20 here.
I'm not sure if I've read a Christmas book, shock, horror! I do have all the Agatha Christie books though so will source those two mentioned above out.
4 stars
Great book. Be prepared for long sentences and try not to have distractions around you when you read this book, there is a lack of punctuation but believe me when I say that this actually adds to the journey of the story being told, I felt like I was with the characters every step of the way. An amazing book about how people overcome or don't overcome a truly devastating event, how people can learn to live in situations they wouldn't think they would be put in and how chaos could happen in the blink of an eye. Of course this book is about many more things as well and you will have to read to understand. Keep your eye out for the dog of tears, my favourite character
I've got Twilight and The Historian to read next year, along with about another 100 books but will definitely get to these two at some stage.
I really liked "The Memory Keeper's Daughter</i>, Lisa, hope you like it too. Elephants was just a little better than okay for me.
Wow, this is a toughie, I think I'd go for mainly bigger books.
The Stand - great book, big
Shantaram - great book, big
War and Peace - haven't read this one yet, big
This Other Eden - for some comic relief
Year of Wonders - a favourite that I could re-read
I actually didn't mind The Kite Runner, thought the subtitles added to the feel of the movie. My partner hadn't read the book so I did find myself adding little things here and there for him to help him better understand some situation.
I'm currently reading Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch and it's pretty good so far, only about 70 or so pages in but those 70 pages went by very swiftly.
Hm, I'm not sure, I've heard it called romance, yeah, maybe but I find it very hard to put in a category. When you find out let me know :)
I really liked The Time Traveler's Wife, Jackie, it was the first kind of those books I had read so wasn't quite too sure what to expect. Hope you continue to enjoy it.
