I get most of my reading done on the train ride to and from work. It's a 40 minute ride and I can focus best there. I do get a lot of reading done here at work, too, but I have a lot more trouble focusing. I did the massive amounts of reading thing a few months ago and got totally burnt out. If I am truly enjoying a book, I can read for hours on end, but mostly, I can do an hour or two at a time, then get distracted. I don't try to crank the books out anymore.
I don't know how big all of your books are or whether you'd be willing to do this, but I like the idea of making an end table or nightstand out of a stack of books. My parents did that in their guest room.
I've been out of here for a while. I just started The Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray. I loved the first two books and am only 30 pages in and already like it (and nothing has even happened). I'm thinking about also picking up and finishing Eclipse, which I stopped reading halfway through in September.
I would recommend A Dirty Job, too. It's my first as well, but I'm planning on reading The Stupidest Angel: A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror, Version 2.0 this month.
Alice, I know that wasn't the order they were published in. Thanks for posting that order. When I read Jenny's question, it looked like she was asking for chronological order.
CFSR, I have it on my bookshelf to read, so I'm glad to hear someone liked it.
Jenny, here is the order, according to Gregory's website:
The Constant Princess
The Other Boleyn Girl
The Boleyn Inheritance
The Queen's Fool
The Virgin's Lover
The Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich and James Patterson seem to be my fluff -- oh, and young adult novels.
Jenny, to go way back to your discussion on TOBG and The Constant Princess, the next in the series is The Boleyn Inheritance -- I read it this month and I want to warn you that it is pretty tedious, but I enjoyed it. I like that they're each written in a slightly different style. I hope you enjoy it, whenever you read it.
I'm currently reading A Dirty Job. It's been highly recommended and I needed a lighter read, after finishing The Chris Farley Show: A Biography in Three Acts.
We just saw Role Models. It was not based on a book. It was pretty funny, but not what I was expecting from the previews.
Okay, let's see. I watch all of the Christmas movies I own on repeat from Thanksgiving through January! lol
Love, Actually
While You Were Sleeping
Muppet Christmas Carol
A Christmas Carol (George C. Scott version)
Scrooged
Miracle on 34th Street (the old version, which I don't actually own)
How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the Jim Carrey version)
Elf
And, Heather, do you mean Mickey's A Christmas Carol? It's on one of the Disney Christmas compilation DVDs.
And, I've never seen It's a Wonderful Life, but I think I will make an effort to actually watch it this year.
I'm currently reading three books:
The Boleyn Inheritance - it's a historical fiction, which is the chosen genre for the month for another book club I belong to, and because I read The Other Boleyn Girl and liked it;
Let's Talk Turkey - I picked that because I thought it would be neat to learn the story behind some popular American expressions;
The Chris Farley Show: A Biography in Three Acts - a friend mentioned this to me a couple weeks ago, when we were in the library; I was a Chris Farley fan, so I thought I'd pick it up.
I've been hearing a lot about Along Came Dylan: Two's a Crowd When You've Been Top Dog around here. Maybe give that a try?
Melanie, glad I'm not the only one!
Yeah, I figure, if I've added three more books to the pile of ones that I've started, there's no need to finish reading the one I initially started with, as I'm obviously avoiding it!
Wow, Alice! I know my insomnia is cured by spending the night on goodreads! Though, I did read a lot more of one of my current books than I intended last night.
LOL, Jenny! Nope, we just like to give each other a hard time. No real fighting between the two of us.
All I know is, Julie, if you read the book before me, you and Dad are not allowed to discuss it in my presence! ;-)
Kelleen, I'll have to check those out, too! Thanks for mentioning them. I wonder if my library might have them.
