1225 I have read The Hunger Games and also loved it! I, too, can't wait for the next one to come out. Also - for another "start" to a Sci-Fi series, I loved Knife of Never Letting Go.

1225 Ever since the Harry Potter craze, I have searched for great YA Sci Fi / Fantasy series... so far, I am (or have been) obsessed with:

* The Sweet Far Thing series (Gemma Doyle)
* The Pendragon series, which begins with The Merchant of Death
* The Sookie Stackhouse series, which although not exactly YA, is still really fun! The first book is Dead Until Dark.
* The House of Night series, which begins with Marked
* The Eragon trilogy... oh, I mean cycle now.
* And of course, all of the Twilight shenanigans.

What else is out there? What else do you enjoy?

1225 Of course, the oldies but goodies:

Where the Red Fern Grows
The Call of the Wild
White Fang
Old Yeller
Sounder

A pretty funny YA book is No More Dead Dogs - which doesn't have a dog character, but is about a boy who is tired of reading books where the dog dies - LOL!

1225 Has anyone read the "Clan of the Cave Bear" series? I remember reading it in college and LOVING it.

1225 I enjoyed the House of Night series, which starts with Marked. Also Dead Witch Walking is the start to a good series - though the main character is a witch, she teams up with all kinds of supernatural beings. Enjoy!

1225 For light reading, I really enjoy most of Jodi Picoult's books, which usually have some type of twist at the end... My Sister's Keeper is my favorite of hers, and the ending took me completely by surprise!

For a little bit heavier reading, The Pillars of the Earth kept me hooked and always guessing - this is particularly great if you like historical fiction... but even if you don't, give it a try!

My favorite genre is YA lit, and one of the best plot twists in YA I have read so far is Tangerine by Edward Bloor.

Happy reading!

You'll love this one...!! A book club...
