1225 It's the only one of his I haven't read yet. Next time it's in the library I'll read it. I've enjoyed the darkness of his last two not sure if I'll enjoy the comedy so much.

1225 Finished the irresistible inheritance of wilberforce yesterday. Actually started it yesterday too and couldn't put it down. Fantastic book but very dark.

I found that too. It never recaptured that initial promise.

1225 Finished 8th confession by James Patterson. Think I'll give up on this series now this one was terrible. Enjoying chapter and verse by Bateman now.

1225 Just finished Mr Toppit has anyone else read this one? Think I might start the Monsters of Templeton by Lauren Groff next. Have a bit of a stockpile from the library.

1225 I've started Mr Toppit by Charles Elton and I'm completely swept up in it. I heard good things about the book on the radio and adored the cover so signed up to it on the RISI mobile library.
5 star reads! (99 new)

1225 Absolutely loved thirteenth tale. Part way through both the gargoyle and shadow of the wind but been reading them both for a while and keep putting them down. I'm preferring the gargoyle but neither of them live up to the thirteenth tale which I read in a few days.

I have it on my bookshelf to read. I was tempted by the title alone.

1225 ooh snap. Well one snap anyway. I also loved the Guernsey Literary...

1225 I bought some books today. Brand new books! I hardly ever do that. I won a book voucher at work so thought I'd splash out. I bought Pride and prejudice and zombies so I can join in the group read, Pop Co by Scarlett Thomas and The elegance of the hedgehog by Muriel Barbery. Yes they were on 3 for 2 at Waterstones.

1225 Still reading 2666 unsurprisingly - up to the 3rd part. Also reading The shadow of the wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. I'm a little disappointed so far after so many positive reviews. I'm on p190 does it get better?

I'm enjoying it so far. Only in book 1 though. It's surprisingly readable. I thought it would be more intimidating.

1225 When we had them first installed at the library all the librarians were hanging around looking a bit lost. Ours are not as high tech as those though and you still have to pay fines at the desk. It's a bit embarrasing when it prints out the receipt and you have 20 books out though.

1225 Not buying it by Judith Levine has really changed my perspective on purchases. As did the Oliver James book on a similar topic. Name escapes me at the moment.

1225 Sometimes classic fm or jazz fm. Last night i discovered Craig Charles' soul and funk show on 6 music and read along to that.

1225 The more books you take out the better for the library. I think their funding is based on number of issues. I always take out loads of books but now they have an automated email system that tells you a few days before your books are due. I always have to take an even number out. Weird I know.

1225 I'm definitely chivalrous. I received a book in the post that got badly damaged and I don't know what to do with it when i've finished it. It's too damaged to put on a shelf or swap but i don't think i can throw a book out.

1225 I'm reading 2666 by Roberto Boalano because it had so many gushing reviews in the papers when it came out and it was in the library.

You'll love this one...!! A book club...
