1225 Well here's a classic, though I might be mistaken to put it in the category you preferred...

1225 I nominate Eye of the Needle by Ken Follett. I think this book have a balance mix of both Historical Fiction and Plot Intrigue in it...
Crime/thrillers (12 new)

1225 I'm now currently reading Eye of the Needle by Ken Follett which I think is for those old fashioned ones who loves suspense steeped in WWII intrugues. Follett do weave a ripping yarn of a tale, and I think the anti-hero is way too cool with his cunning and slyness. A must for those who want some adrenaline-pumping action.

1225 A book based on nothing.

1225 I'm definitely a chivalrous book owner... I laboriously cover every book of mine with plastic cover so the covers wouldn't get damaged--may it be hardbound or softbound.. As much as possible I don't want to write anything in its pages... I always use a handy bookmark (may it be a tissue paper) just to prevent dog-ears or the wrinkling and creases in the paper... My friends are amazed in the way I keep my books in fine shape... I consider them my riches I'll hand down to my children... I want them to dwell into the pages I so enjoyed during my youth... I want to share them what I had experienced through reading them... there's just a down-side in to this crazy habit of mine... i just don't lend my books for I'm afraid the borrower might wreak havoc in its pristine beauty I had jealously guarded... I've been traumatized by that experience once... and I cast that careless borrower into oblivion...
Well that's my take on that... ^_^

1225 For me the book that literally revolutionize the way I see the world was The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey which i just read last year... The book have a tremendous influence on me on how to lead the business of my life and be disciplined by the irrefutable principles of life...
i think it's a must read for all those who want to find the path to themselves...
Such a revealing and uplifting book... It truly give you the courage to step into the future and looking at the big picture...
Well that's the book that changed or rather set me on a paradigm shift...

1225 For all the love it's been receiving since, I nominate The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett

1225 Yes it does Heather...Thanks....
I'm a sort of mix kind of book person... specifically if I find a hardback of an author I like and tagged with a reasonable price, I buy it.. the same thing with paperbacks or trade paperbacks...
I guess it's just a matter of what I will find first and if the price is cheap...
I only buy books from secondhand bookstores here in the Philippines...
You'd be surprised just how outrageously priced books here... Maybe with all the shipping and all that makes the price that expensive I guess...

1225 Ohhh...sorry about that Heather...

I would suggest that you read Richard Bach. His book's main topic is always about flight specially his first three books.
I liked the most his Jonathan Livingstone Seagull for its philosophical insight.

1225 Thanks Miranda..
I hope it will be..
But let's first focus on what upcoming book our group will read.
I'm looking forward to reading The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood.
If we're going to tackle historical fiction this March, I'll nominate The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett.

Jan 17, 2009 12:05AM

1225 Wow!! So many people love reading historical fiction why don't we make a move so that our March Group read will have a historical fiction in it. I think it will be a blast.
Jan 15, 2009 06:19PM

1225 Yup! Can't agree more to that!! I love Pillars of the Earth. ^_^
Has this book been a group read? I would defintely love if it will be. I think let's vote for it for our March group read.
