1218 These are great! Lets remember to put either the title of the book with the review or if you are smart (not me) put the cover of the book up too. :)

1218 Lori, I have not heard of the Page 99 test. I guess that would work as well. But this way I don't have to wonder for hours in a book store ....not a bad thing in general but when you still come away with nothing it is a pain!

These are fun to read so far!

1218 My niec actually has this as a tag on her blog. Here is what you do. Pick up any book close to you. Weather you are reading it of not and turn to page "56" go to the 5th sentance and write that sentnce, continue for a few sentances. I hope this will be fun! I have a hard time picking new books to read and the back of a book dose not always give the best insight. So crack open those books and lets see what is out there!! :)

"A Woman Worth Ten Copers"

It Oppressed Yim like the echoes of a thunderclap and felt as equally real. The day dragged on, and by afternoon, even Honus seemed fatigued. Yim trudged in sensless exhaustion.

"We must rest", said Honus at last. Luvein is a wearisome place.

Yim slumped by the roadside without removing the pack.

1218 I am just a little crazzy on this subject as listed earlyer. My daughter wanted to barrow my Harry Potters, Twitights, and Host books. Her room is just accross the hall from mine. It was hard to lend them to her since they are 1-my book, 2- hardback , 3- have those nice slieves on them. I lent them but I removed the book jacket first. Yes yes yes I dislike lending. ;)

1218 I too have not read "Anne"! I own it and have done for simply years. I have it in a seperat bookself that I don't look at that often. I will need to move it and read it very soon.

I also loved reading and do re-read these books

The mixed-up files of Mrs. Basil E Frankweiler
Time at the Top
The Tripod series
The Forever King
Frindel

Just to name a few

1218 Thank you Jeane! I was begging to think I was the only one. But with you and all those above I see that I am not... what a relief! :)

1218 I don't believe I have lost any books in the loaning process. But then I stoped loaning out books back in 1984 or so. I had a friend who barrowed a brand new book and returned a damaged book even after promising me she would follow my ruls on how to take care of it. I have gone into detail on this site sometime in the past about this friend so I will not sope box here.

I have recent lent a book or two to my mother who is very careful with my books but it just about KILLS me to hand it over. I will go so far as to buy the person their own copy just so I don't have to lend mine out. Freek that I am but oh well! At least I recognise MY problem and my family just laughs at me. They love me anyway. Take care!

1218 JT that is actually where I got the idea to read it from. I forgot I had it for a while now I am in a race against time to get it back to the library.

1218 I find it funny when I find a spelling error. I am a bad speller and have been all my life. The more time I spend reading the better I am. But again if I can see a spelling error I think that that is pretty bad and funny. :)

1218 Drac is fab perhaps I will need to dig out my copie and give it another read.
1218 I have read about 19 of them. It was a lot better then I thought it was going to be. I can't say that I have read all of shakspear or all of the narnia but I have read a lot of them. As for the rest of the list there are some I think I will check out. If we were including ones we had watched my number would go up by a few. :) Have a good day.

1218 JG I too am glad someone feels the same way about her as I do!

Starlight I have not seen clueless but would recomend reading emma all the same if you do like jane. I would not say it is wrong that you have not read it but would say you should not let a current movie disuade or lead you to not reading the book. Books are usually better in the origanal form and with detail then any movie.

I just struggle with the personality of emma. She is deffanetly no lizzy bennet! But this is good we can not all be fantastic.

1218 I read all her books just a few years ago! Loved them all. My Fav is P&P,I am also parcial to Northanger abby and persuasion.

I have problems with emma. It took me the longest the read. I had the others done in a matter of days. (I have chldren so I can't just sit and cruze) I just could not really relate at all to her. I really just wanted to smack her.
I would put it down for weeks and even months at a time. I would even begin and finish another book during the time period. It is a very good book but of all of Jane's works emma is the only one I struggled with.

I enjoy the movie of emma sometimes and fast forward when I can't take it any more. I love Mr. Knightly! But in the book he has a lesser role or at least less time with him in it and I found this a dissapointment.

If I could have any of the Jane men I would choose first Mr. Darcy second Mr. Knightly third Captin Wentworth. the others are good but this is my top three in order.

love love love Jane!

1218 Guten Tag! How nice to hear form Doichland. I know I spelt that wrong sorry. Hope you like the grope.
Sep 02, 2008 04:39PM

1218 If I damage the book I can live with it. My books are well handled and if they come in and out of bags that is one thing and they do get drped from time to time. I mean axedients happen but to outright abuse a book that is just bad. I feel that if I decied to keep the book and I treat it well I will have it for many many years to come!

:)

1218 I don't like the stickers either but if in trying to remove them I make a tear I will leave it alone but it still bugs me.

I have a MASSIVE problem in lending books!!!!!!!!

I hate it when people are not careful with my books. THere are only two reasons the book is still in my possiton and that is because I really liked it or I have yet to read it.

YEars and I do mean years ago I lent a brand new book to my girlfriend. I said please DON'T dog ear the pages, don't fold the cover back, don't let your younger siblings get it and please don't leave it on the ground!

Well I finally got my book back and it was alful!

She dogeared the pages put a few creases down the middel of the front cover, and someone in her house spilt someting one it.

I was so mad! I asked her to replace to book and she would not. She even tryed to tell me that that was how the book was when she got it.

(It was brand new and I had yet to even open it let alone read it.)

Ok on a sope box here.

I use a book mark or something no damaging.
I never put a book on the floor.
I just about kills me to lend a book.

In fact the first time since those many years ago that I have let a book it was to my older sister. THis was just with in the last two years I kid you not it was so hard.
I even went so far as to call the local librarys, the 3 bookstores in the area and stoped by the book trading place to no avail.
right up untill I actually handed over the book I was stressing out! She knew this would be hard for me and really tried hard not to laugh.

I am so bad that I can barley let my doughter (who is very careful with books) barrow them. She is just accross the hall from me.
